Need some help - party ideas

Maddie&EthansMom wrote: Maddie is having a pool party in 3 weeks. I'm so not with it this year. blush.gif

She decided on a flip flop theme...here are some of the things we are going with to give you an idea. Surf's Up partyware As you can see, it is sort of a luau theme as well. wink.gif And we will be using the flip flop plates and not the surfboard stuff. I bought some other flip flop stuff at a party store, like a serving platter and confetti..she loves it tongue.gif

I found some invitations that I have to have printed. They are real cute...they have 3 flip flops going horizontally and you print inside the flip flops. I wanted something 'cutesy' to print, but I'm stumped and I need to know pretty soon. wacko.gif

Also, I thought I would decorate flip flops for the party favor. Any ideas on how to do this other than a big flower? bigthink.gif I'm not finding what I want on line. I know it will come to me at the last minute...It always does. I just don't want to wait that long.

holley79 replied: I'm not that creative. LOL. Sounds like it's going to be fun though.

amymom replied: Nicole that is an awesome invite.

For favors there is tons of charms shaped like flip flops. Maybe make your own necklaces with flip flop charms. You could do it as an activity or if not enough time, just baggie up the parts and let them make it at home.

Have a great party!!1

C&K*s Mommie replied: Aimee this may be of assistance. I found these ideas at Fine Stationery

Minus the mention of adult beverages, I thought this was nice about 'celebrating in the sun' for a birthday party.

You may also incorporate hawaiian themes into it. By using the children's hawaiian names on the invites. Or having a little hawaiian quotes/phrases or proverbs placed around the tables or on the invites.

luvmykids replied: Sounds fun, can I come? emlaugh.gif

You could decorate the flip flops with beads, crystals, fake gems, buttons, etc.

mckayleesmom replied: Aimee...are you decorating actual shoes for the party? That they can wear home? I would say...buy the plastic ones with wide bands....Get some glue sticks and glitter, and other confetti type things.

Jamison'smama replied: Aimee. I will look on the web and see if I can find a picture but what turns out really cute is get a cute fabric (or several different so people can choose) and cut strips-

Nevermind, I just found a link

Flip flops

I think 6 inches seems pretty long but you'll figure it out.

I have a pair--they are fun pool shoes

moped replied: Love the invite, and the shoes..........that may be a good craft idea for the kids????

Good one guys

Now how about Jacks 2nd birthday??????? Any thoughts ladies

Sorry Aimee.......... tongue.gif

holley79 replied:
I was just thinking the same thing. You know how little girls are. blush.gif If there are going to be little boys there, though, you would have to think of something boyish.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: OH NICOLE!!!! THAT'S PERFECT!!! Not only b/c it's 'flip' for flip flops, but b/c it's so true!! She really is about to flip. laugh.gif That's all I've heard for the past 9 months. happy.gif

You are the google queen. I couldn't find anything when I did a search. tongue.gif

Yes, I'm decorating actual shoes for the girls. I would have them do it, but we only get the pool for 2 hours and I know I will barely get them out of the water to eat pizza and cake. wink.gif

Thanks Brenda for the link!! thumb.gif I love those!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Maybe you can find large glue-on gemstones at a bead/craft store. The kind that are flat on one side. Or little tiny pom-poms, flowers, smiley appliques. Even really pretty ribbon. Anything that lies flat and can be glued on!

Great idea BTW!! Have fun!

C&K*s Mommie replied: Brenda, I love those flip flops. I am going to have to do those for the girls! rolling_smile.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: This is her invitation:

Flip Flop Invites

kit_kats_mom replied: I think you must add googly eyes to each pair of flip flops. I'm a big fan of googly eyes laugh.gif

ilovemybaby replied: You could decorate the flip flops with seashells? Do you have a beach close enough or do they sell cleaned up ones anywhere?

AlexsPajamaMama replied: I Love the Flip Flop theme! Cute invitation! The link Jamison'smama shared looks like such a fun idea! I'd make some for myself!

ediep replied:
yes, thats what i was going to say too. You can buy flip flop pretty cheap at target, walmart, or even a craft store like AC moore, Michaels, or Rag shop

get tons of gems, beads, ribbon, flowers and glue and they'll have a blast. MAybe make one beforehand to show them the possibilities.

its going to be so fun

coasterqueen replied: No help, but I LOVE all the suggestions. thumb.gif Kylie is trying to decide either on a Princess theme party or a Luau theme for her birthday. I really want her to do the Luau, one. blush.gif

lisar replied: You could take some of those lil sticky letters and put the kids names on the flip flops. That might be cute.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Luau's are fun. Maddie had one when she was 2. happy.gif It was so cute. She wanted to do it this year, but her best friend is having a pool party the day before (they are one day apart in age) and she is having a luau so we went with flip flops. laugh.gif It's turning out to be cute, though.

Let me know if you need any links for some luau stuff I found. thumb.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I just hope you are not like me, and forget the camera for every special occasion that you want to capture forever. oooppps! blush.gif I am just thankful that cells have video and camera functions now.

Maybe even pipe cleaners? You know the fuzzy ones? If the wire wasn't sticking out and poky...

I'm not on a roll today, sorry.
