Need food ideas for 10 month old- - Kiera is spitting out the baby food

jdkjd wrote: Kiera has been pretty reliable in eating the babyfood until this last week. She started spitting most of the baby food back out.

She loves mashed potatoes, loves cheerios and has eaten toast, but I can't remember what we gave Bailey for her first table foods.

What is your baby eating or what DID they like when they were first eating table foods??

THANK YOU!!

akbutterfly83 replied: My little cousins liked:

Apple sauce
diced peaches ( the one's in the little plastic contaners(lunch size))
jello
tater tots

I know there is more..... if I think of any more i'll post them......

gr33n3y3z replied: My 1st born ate baby food until they were 8 months old then table food.
And the other 3 kids all ate table food since they were 5 months and up.
Of course you had to make adjustments and grind it and I also made alot extras so I could freeze some for the times they could not eat what we were having another night.

Mac and Cheese
Pasta
Apple sauce
grapes - minus the skins
Bananas
Cranberry Sauce
Chicken or Chicken Tenders
Steak
Ham
Stew
this list could go on forever

catou_98 replied: something my daughter really loved to feed herself (althought a bit messy) was and still is to this days Avocados, I once read somewhere that it was considered 1 of the best food to start baby on! anways other things were:

avocados
cheerios
cooked noodle with a bit of butter for fat and taste
soft cooked frozen vegeteble medley
banana chunks
small pieces of cubes cheese
grapes(cut in 4)
baby arroroot cookies
yogourt
peaches(lunch size plastic container)

I'm sure there's more but I can't remember! wink.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jade ate a lot of those things, but she also liked the meats that gerber makes. The turkey sticks and what not. You could cut those up and they were nice an soft. She would eat yogart as well.

ediep replied: it was at about 10 months that Jay stopped eating baby food. I gave him pancakes, cheerios, pasta with butter, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, carrots, all cooked until pretty soft. He also ate pears, peaches, and bannanas

3forme replied: Adam went throught this. He was very sensetive to grains and had major vomiting episodes when I first started him on baby cereal etc. The doctor ran all sorts of tests and couldn't figure it out. Well, after trial and error (more episodes) and many months, we have pretty much gotten past that. He still cannot do rice or anything with rice flour, etc. ANYWAY, we were having a problem because he began to hate...I mean HATE the baby foods at about 9 months. So, the doctor told me to just try him on anything that we were eating. He said a good rule of thumb was to give him anything that could probably dissolve in water (meaning no raw veggies, nuts, etc). So, now, he eats just about anything. He LOVES french toast (with no syrup) for breakfast. Oh and eggs, I hard boil them then take off the white (dr. said no to those until a year old), mush it up with a little butter and water and he loves that. Soft cooked pasta with maybe a little sauce. He does like some of the gerber graduates stuff too. He gets mad now if he can't eat when we are eating. So if I am fixing spicy foods or something he can't have, I usually open up a can of spaghetti o's (they have CALCIUM added!).

Anyway, check with your dr. and go for it. Good luck!

MomToMany replied: Kayla is eating whatever we eat. I have a baby food grinder that I use to grind everything up.

DansMom replied: Avocados
Banana
Peaches and Pears
Soft Italian bread with or without olive oil

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Ethan actually eats anything and everything. He loves the Gerber Lil Entrees. They have diced green beans and pasta, etc. He is a big eater, though. He also likes the Gerber Graduates (they have some with plain pasta or mac n cheese, etc) Maybe Kiera is ready for something with a little more texture.

coasterqueen replied: Hmmm, I think everyone covered what we did. FWIW, Kylie wasn't a huge eater at that age either. She went through spurts where she liked food and would eat and then spurts when she wouldn't for awhile. Gosh, she still does that now. rolleyes.gif

annafrombc replied: Evan is 10 months old.

He likes:

Avocado
Cottage Cheese
Pastini (baby pasta) with cheese
Meatloaf
Sweet potatoes
Tofu
Mango
Papaya
Banana
Whole Wheat toast with melted cheese
He loves raw carrot blended fibe with apple into a puree (sometimes I add yogurt and he LOVES this)
Potato and cottage cheese

jdkjd replied: Thank you everyone!!! I am trying to be more adventurous in the foods I'm giving Kiera. For some reason I always resist the transition from baby food to table food-I don't know whether it's the whole choking fear or just laziness on my part.

Kiera has had potatoes, shredded cheese and yogurt this week. I also let her chew on a rib which she absolutely loved.

I really appreciate all of the ideas...

MomToMany replied: wub.gif Awww, great picture Jenn! I hope Kiera likes some of the ideas!
