Need advice ...AGAIN - you guys think I'm helpless?
toady_buckshot_noodle wrote: Okay, We have had the house up for sale for a while... Well, there is a famil coming to sign a contract tonight. My problem is where to go from there.
We want to move to the country. I own 36 acres but it is behind family, uncle, aunt, grandma and it is basically used for hunting/farm land. Well, I don't want to live there because of my uncle freaking out over it "destroying hunting" and I don't want any stray rifle bullets flying through my living room either.
Financially we can not buy land and build a house straight out but I have the option of selling my land to family and buying somewhere else. (the thought of selling my land breaks my heart . )
I also have the proble of not being able to agree with my husband on where to buy, he thinks everywhere is not good enough or is too expensive. He just wants somthing free and can't understand me not wanting to cause problems with my family.
Any suggestions?
C&K*s Mommie replied: What were your intentions on where to move, or where to go, when you first put the house up for sale?
Bee_Kay replied: I was kinda thinking the same thing.
Before we sold our house, we already had another home picked out.
So, do you have to be out of your home in 30 days?
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well couldn't you have a house on like... one of your 36 acres?
I agree with not wanting to cause problems with your fmaily... but after all, they are hunting on YOUR land. They shoud understand that it IS your land... I mean - you COULD tell them not to hunt on your land..
Or maybe you could sell a part of your land to your family and use the money as a down payment for a new place
Kaitlin'smom replied: I to wondered what your plans were when you listed the house. 36acres? I am sure there has to be some little nessle free from hunting you could build on. I do understand not wanting to ruffle feathers but its YOUR land. You should do what you want with it.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I am confused. Do you own this land fair and square? So Rocky (ZenMommy) would be right you could settle on a portion of the land and let them keep a portion of it for hunting. Or when you say it is behind the extended family, is it theirs, then when they pass on it will be yours, and so on?
TheOaf66 replied: My family started out owning land and then we built a house on it, did not damage the hunting at all, the animals get used to it and now when we visit my folks we see turkeys, deer, everything. Animals adapt so if you already have the land, build...you can use 3 acres or so for your house and lawn etc and leave the rest of it for nature. Just my vote
CantWait replied: I have to say, I'm also a little confused. This issue really should have been brought up between you and dh before you decided to sell your house. In all fairness, it is your land, and therefore whatever you choose to do with it, is your decision, not your families. There are plenty of other places to hunt.
I think hunting is just plain ick, but that's just me and irrelevant
Cece00 replied: Well, my first thought would be to no longer let them hunt on the land.
My second thought is to sell like 1/2 the land & use the $$ to buy a house somewhere else.
Jackie012007 replied: 36 acres is A LOT of land! My dad bought 12, used like 3 for the house and a big back yard, and since he is a hunter, hunted on the rest and everything was copacetic... and we almost always would wake up each morning and see little furry animals of some sort just chilling on our lawn
toady_buckshot_noodle replied: Well, the plan was to swap a portion of my land with family that would not affect hunting, etc. But that did not work out. Yes, the 36 acres is mine, free and clear. My brother owns the other 36 of what was my dad's and it is surrounded by other family members. It is 100s of acres total of forest and farm land. It would be beautiful it is just isolated.
Oh and the main problem with destubing hunting is my fear of bullets!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Hmmm. Well, if you really want a house there, you'll find a way... your family will just have to understand that it is your land.
C&K*s Mommie replied: to Rocky.
Cece00 replied: If you tell them they are no longer allowed to hunt on ANY of your land, bullets shouldnt be a problem. That's what I would do.
skinkybaby replied: I say build on the land you already own. Your brother's 36 acres is more than enough to hunt on!
