Need Sleeeeeeep
CantWait wrote: Am having a really hard time sleeping the last couple months, and it has nothing to do with comfort, I'm really really tierd but can't fall........any sugguestions on how to get some zzzzzzzz'z at night. I work a lot during the day so most of the time that isn't an option
MommyToAshley replied: I had a hard time sleeping because I was anxious about the baby... always wondering if everything was ok, what she was going to be like, how the delivery was going to go,etc. I had to fall asleep reading a book or watching TV. If I just laid in bed, I never went to sleep because my mind was always running wild with thoughts. Don't know if this is what is happening to you, but that was my experience.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
TLCDad replied: Same here... I can start falling asleep easy with the TV on but as soon as I turn it off I can get back in that falling asleep stage for quite some time... sometimes not at all.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I had some of the same problems. Mostly due to being uncomfortable. I am a stomach sleeper and had a terribe time trying to sleep on my back, then I could not stand that so I had to sleep on my side. I found that pillows helped and I got a sound machine and listened to ocean waves. That always relaxed me so I could sleep. They also make cd of different sounds. If you have a favorite thing like ocean, dessert, rain, mountain streams you might get a cd and try it. I hope this is some what helpfull.
MommyToAshley replied: I thought about one of the sound machines, but the sound of water always made me have to go pee. LOL
CantWait replied: haha too funny Mommy!!!! Lets see I've tried watching tv, playing on the puter, sound cds, including classical blah blah blah lol. I'm in the same boat as you TLC, I can fall asleep somewhat watching tv, but soon as it goes off, forget about it.......
I definetly know that I'll be starting my Mat leave sooner so that I can get some sleep during the day before the baby comes.
Kaitlin'smom replied: thats good, get as much rest as you can before the baby comes, and sleep when the baby sleeps, i know its hard to do at first but you will get used to it.
I was gonna take about a week before she was born, but it turned out I worked right up till the dya before I went into labor....not by choise she was early...
so just sleep whenever you can
MommyToAshley replied: Oh how I miss those afternoon naps. I wouldn't mind being preggy again just so I can take the afternoon naps.
Oh wait, do you still get to nap in the afternoon if you already have a munchkin at home? hmmm.
Kaitlin'smom replied: sure take a nap with her............
MommyToAshley replied: She only takes two 45 minute naps during the day. I use this time (and when she falls asleep at night) to get work done for clients and post on this board. Working at home has some disadvantages too. But, I am so glad I get to spend so much time with her that I really don't mind walking around with bags under my eyes. haha. I figure she won't be small forever and I relish every moment with her. Who needs afternoon naps. (I'm trying to convince myself that I don't --haha)
Kaitlin'smom replied: well if she takes more than one try and sleep one of them, then do work on the others. But whatever works for you!
madaise replied: I always take a bath before bed.. sometimes with a warm cup of tea. Read a book and just relax. Then go from the bath to bed.
