Need Help!

MotherForever2043 wrote: Esther woke up this moring and turned her neck to quick and heard it crack. She felt a burning shooting pain down her neck. She cannot mover her neck at all. She said it hurts A LOT and it stated at 10:30, I thought it would go away with some ice, but it didn't. Should I keep waiting or bring her to the ER? I think it has something to do with a nerve, maybe pinched nerve or something.

PrairieMom replied: Do you have a regular Dr you can see or at least a walk in clinic? It sounds to me like she could use a dr visit, but an ER is really more for emergent type things, if your ER triages, you could be there for hours waiting to be seen.

Calimama replied: Yeah I would take her to a walk in clinic.

holley79 replied: I would defiantly talk to her Dr about it. Let us know what they say.

moped replied: I think I have done what you have deescribed - what about a chiro

DVFlyer replied: I doubt it's cause for too much concern. My guess would be a pinched nerve (btdt). Ibuprofen or Tylenol and rest. Heat/ cold may help a bit but time and rest will slowly work their magic.

My2Beauties replied: I agree with DV there's probably not much a regular doc can do, now if you can take her to a chiro for an adjustment it may help alleviate a lot of pain.

MotherForever2043 replied: She has improved a little bit. She made it out of bed, but her neck is really stiff on the right side and still is painful. I don't have a heating pad, so I had her put an ice pack and take some Tylenol. Hopefully it will get better by tomorrow. We don't have a walk-in clinic. Only a regular doctor's off ice, where you have to make an appt. I called the Dr and he said to take iburprofen and massage the neck, and if it doesn't get bettter soon to bring her in the next day rolleyes.gif mad.gif Not much help he was dry.gif If it doesn't get better by tomorrow, I'll take her in. Thank goodness she didn't have school today (Staff Professional Day). I still don't know if she should go to school tomorrow. Thanks for the help everyone hug.gif I was really freaking out.

Calimama replied:
I hope she gets some relief tonight. hug.gif

redchief replied: Been there... often. Rest and pain relievers and warm therapy (heating pad, etc) will help, but not as much as time. Support the head in a neutral position and warmth (not ice) seems to help me most. That and just plain being still.

MoonMama replied: Poor thing sad.gif I hope she's feeling better soon. hug.gif hug.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Aaahhh I can't remember the name in English...it's a "torticolis" in french. I do that sometimes. Huuuuurts.

grapfruit replied:
Per Wikipedia it's also called "wry neck". Scroll down to "In Adults" can be caused by sleeping funny.

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
No that's not what I'm thinking of. Arg. emlaugh.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I'd just take her to the doc or a chiro, perhaps they can adjust her neck. If it is a pinched nerve, adjusting her neck will take care of it considering that is what adjustments are for...fixing the spinal column for the nerves are free from pressure.

MotherForever2043 replied:
*What exactly would they do to adjust it? Neck brace?

I made a doctor's apointment for her for tomorrow @ 5. She made it through the school day, the nurse gave her some Ibuprofen and an ice pack. Which did not help much btw dry.gif The only time they had availbe for today was @ 5, but Amber has a dentist . It's still pretty hurtful though. I really want her to get back to he rold self again.

A&A'smommy replied: Poor girl!!!! I hope it starts to ease up for her!!! hug.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Oh gosh no! They push on the area of the spine that needs adjusting and push the spine back in place. When the spine is unaligned it puts pressure on the nerves, causing pain. They just move the spine back into place. Ever gotten your back cracked? It's like that, only they pinpoint the problem areas.

MotherForever2043 replied:
Thanks so much for the infromation. smile.gif I don;t know what I would do without you guys hug.gif
