Natural products to get rid of ants
CantWait wrote: Any, I have them everywhere coming from outside including on my kitchen counters.
bluebear replied: I need this too. I started getting them again yesterday.
A&A'smommy replied: diatomaceous earth
not 100% on where you can buy this because I have had a HARD time finding it!!
PrairieMom replied: I think you can buy it at places that sell pools. Like real pools. isn't that what they put in pool filters?
I think Borax works too, I keep meaning to look it up for you, but i got distracted watching glee.
moped replied: I buy it at the local greenhouse!
coasterqueen replied: Some local health food stores have it too AND I actually saw it at Lowes the other day. Not sure if the Lowe's kind is as good, though.
CantWait replied: LOL guys, anything more natural, like something I can find in a Russian grocery store
PrairieMom replied: maybe try some of these? http://www.eartheasy.com/live_natpest_control.htm
coasterqueen replied: Forgot about you being in Russia.
PrairieMom replied: I THOUGHT you could use borax. LOL. http://www.ehow.com/how_4471409_fight-ants-borax.html
Its a laundry booster, I get it at our grocery store.
CantWait replied: Nope, none of that here....ugh!!!! I'm toast. Off to the store tomorrow.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: planting marigolds around your yard as a way to keep mosquitoes away is an interesting idea... I wonder if it would actually work? I might have to convince my mother to let me plant marigolds everywhere this year. I actually just heard that planting marigolds around your garden can keep the bugs and bunnies out of there too.
PrairieMom replied: Last year in our community garden the bunnies ate the marigolds.
CantWait replied: I hear skunks really like these as well
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Lol! Maybe it doesn't work on your hardy South Dakota Bunnies. But then it probably wouldn't work on our Minnesota Bunnies either... the lady I heard about it from lives somewhere in the east I think.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Wait... you mean the skunks LIKE marigolds, as in if I plant them, skunks will come to my yard? I'm definitely re-thinking the marigold idea.
msoulz replied: Try vinegar. I recall that is supposed to repel them and they probably have that in Russia!
coasterqueen replied: BTW, we use marigolds around tomato plants around here - they keep tomato worms away.
luvbug00 replied: I've heard vinegar as well.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: lol, chalk and crushed egg shells
CantWait replied: Yes, and it's a lot stronger
Misqrd replied: Tea Tree Oil works great! Good luck!
