Names
mrshires wrote: Ok, for me the funnest part about pregnancy is picking out those names. We know what we want to name a girl, Sophie Grace, but are still up in the air on a boy. He wants Joshua Reese, but I think Joshua is way to popular. (This from an Amanda born in 1979....)
What names does everyone like? What are you tossing around, or can't decide if you like or not?
I just thought this would be a fun discussion
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: we like the name Jake if we ever have another boy...and for the 18 weeks that Matt was supposedly a girl his name was Kassandra (Kassie) Ellen.
jolene555 replied: were Georgia a boy she would have been Harry David. i love Harry - twas my late grandpa's name. i have a long list for boys, though . . . August, Travis, Henry, Beau, Gabriel, Benedict, Xavier, Jude, McCoy
my girls list would take a long time to type . . . lol
Nicole replied: If we have a boy we`re naming him after his daddy so it would be Gregory Eric (we should have done that with our 1st. boy or even our 2nd. boy but we didn`t) I also like the names Ashur Garrett
Conner Nicholas, Conner David, Conner Ryan, Conner Rylie
Rylie Joseph, Rylie Chase, Rylie Chance
Jordan Ggregory, Jordan Nicholas
For girls namse we like
Mckenna Marie (marie for me and my mom that`s my middle name and was my mom`s middle name)
Grace Elizabeth ( Elizabeth was my mom`s first name)
Grace Marie, Nakita Marie, Hannah Elizabeth, Hannah Marie
coasterqueen replied: Well boys names were easier for us. If Kylie was going to be a boy he would have been named Tyler Christian.
For this baby we are still having trouble with girls names...but if we have a boy he will be named Tyler Christian...we are still stuck on that name even though it's VERY popular (first name that is).
MommyToAshley replied: I love the name Sophie...good choice.
I am partial to the name Joshua too, it's very special to us and the name of our angel.
Have you thought about changing the middle and first name around and going with Reese Joshua?
Sorry I am not much help because I like the names you have already chosen.
Orchidstra replied: My hubby and I have the same problem... we have two girl names picked out, but haven't found many boy names we both like. In fact, he doesn't like ANY except for one (that we have reserved for current baby, if it's a boy), and there are only a few that I really adore (Caleb, Eli, Orion), but he doesn't like any of those. So hopefully we'll end up with one boy and the rest girls!
FroggyJK replied: I am having such a hard time finding names I like for this kid!!!
For a girl I think I really like the name Sarah Nicole...... BUT... hubby has an ex named Sarah.
Boy names I don't really like any. One day I will think one sounds good and then next day I will hate it. I just did that with the name Dylan.
I don't want something super popular but I don't want something way different either. Something in the middle. I am to the point that I really don't like thinking about names.
mrshires replied: I do the same thing. One of my names is Brendon. And a bunch more. I like Joseph, just not as popular as it is. And I hesitate to do a first name Reese b/c all I think of is Riece's Pieces and Malcolm in the Middle.... Not what I want to think of with my kid!
And my favorite boy's name is Collin, but that's out b/c my daughter's name is Colleen Imagine why
mama3x replied: Well I am partial to Brenden since my DS's name is that and in 1992 that was an unusual name. Kyrie we got out of the baby book for its meaning and it sounds pretty when people pronounce it right (it's "Kylie" with an "r", why do people say "keeree" - AUGH).
Boy's names I have always liked but not for my kids for some reason: Anthony, Bryson, Collin, Davin, Derrik, Ethan, Gavin, Ian, Kyler, Nicholas, Patrick, Ryan, Shawn, Tanner, Travis, Trevor, Zachary
Girl's names I have troubles with but I have liked these: Ashlyn, Brianna, Haley, Jerika, Kayla, Melissa, Nicolette, Tara
Of course none of the names listed were ever on my lists for this little one
5littleladies replied: I really like both of your names. I wouldn't change them.
When we have another it will be Benjamin Jason for a boy and probably Alyssa Marie for a girl. I've had the boy name picked out for almost 7 years. Someday I might actually get to use it.
mitchzgirl replied: We're final on the name Stanley Michael, Stanley is df's middle name and I just love the name Michael. If she were a girl she would have been Mikaylah Marie, and been called Mikey
Josie83 replied: Great choice!! I obviously love the name Cassie, but I also like Jessica, Megan, Jenna, Laurie and Kate or Katie. For boys Jason and I liked Josh, Zach, Rhys and sean. Happy choosing! xx
~KARA~ replied: Im not prego yet but I have names picked out for baby #3 when the time comes.
Boy- Kaden Dale
Girl- Ryleigh Dayle or Kayden Dayle
Dale was my fil's middle name.
mrshires replied: Here's some of the other names we liked
girls: Katrina, Gillian, Mallory, Cassandra, Holly, Chloe, Bridget, Gretchen, Natasha, Rebecca
boys: Brendon, Stephen, Drew, Zachary, Evan, Tiernan, Kieran
For me it's a lot harder to come up with boys names than girls.
Right now it's pretty much going between Joshua Reese, and Brendon Reese.
Joshua is his father's dad's name. Reese is a last name from his mother's family tree somewhere. I understand naming after people, I just have 2 things to adjust to 1. I was taught you do not name someone after somebody living. 2. He HATES his father and doesn't know his father's family. None of that side of the family was invited to our wedding, and I have never even met his father. So I'm having trouble understanding this....
My big problem with Joshua is just that it's so popular. It's been in the top 5 for 10 years! I remember years of being called "4" because I was the 4th most popular Amanda in my grade. My husband Russell never had this problem
This is a fun thread

mama3x replied: Are there other forms of Joshua out there that you would consider? I know someone who liked the name Jacob but felt it was too common so they used "Akiva" instead, which is some kind of variation.
I love Kiernan and Evan too And even Kieran.
jolene555 replied: what a good idea! i looked and found that the name JOSIAH is another hebrew form of joshua.
in my family it's quite common to name a baby after someone still living, but we always change it a little. for instance, my nice's middle name LARRYN is after my father, LARRY, and my daughter's middle name of BERNADETTE is after my grandfather, BERNARD. we also go by meanings, like were georgia a boy she might have been named MCCOY that means "son of HUGH" and therefore be named after my grandfather, whose father's name was hugh. does that make any sence. for us, it's not so much the name that matters, but the thought. barry wanted to give georgia a name with the meaning of "bear" as to be named after him, but URSULA is the only female name that meant "bear", so i said no. luckily, BERNADETTE means "brave as a bear" so he got his reference.
A&A'smommy replied: We have a middle name picked out for a girl its Grace, no first name yet and if we have a boy it will be Jeremiah and DH wants his middle name to be William they are both Family names in fact the VERY first Dial (of his relatives) to come over her was a Jeremiah (my dhs name) and then he had a son names William. So we want to keep those names going since it doesn't look like dhs brother is going to have any children.
mrshires replied: I would love to name it after some in my family, but with names like Bessie Elsie Lee, Minnie, Elbert, Dallas, Barbara June, Rueben Llewelyn and Merle, what are you going to do? My dd's middle name is Colleen Elizabeth, as Elsie and Bessie are forms of that.
We talked about it more and we're coming together. We have 7-8 months to figure it out I think we'll need it
