my2monkeyboys wrote: The post about KitKat's bird made me think.. what pets do all of you have now-a-days? We have: a shih-tzu named Charleston Fitzgerald (Charlie for short, about 4 yrs old) a Shih-Tzu named Daisy (about 4 1/2 months old) a cat named Broccoli Lamont (about 2 yrs old) 2 turtles - Gertie and Cheeto a bearded dragon - Frankie (5 months old) 2 female gerbils - Ruby Mae and Lucy (had them about 8 months) 2 zebra finches - Jack and Jill (had about 2 months) a Leopard gecko - JoJo (about a year old) multiple freshwater fish, goldfish, saltwater fish/invertebrates
DH says he's thinking about charging admission when people come visit... this could qualify as a small petting zoo, right??
I just tell DH he's SO lucky we live in the city limits or we'd have just as much outside as inside!!
So, what kind of critters do y'all have?
kit_kats_mom replied: I will never let K read this thread! She would slap her sister for reptiles and L wants a bunny or other small furry guys. I told them both that the zoo is full and there will be no more additions till someone dies.
In order of arrival in our home:
Fish-Fred, Wilma, Betty, Barney, Dino and BamBam Coconut the cat-almost 3.5 yrs old. Rocky the Standard Poodle-just turned 2 Blue Berry
We also have had in the past: various frogs and bugs that the girls find who make their home in our bug keeper for short visits
Two anole lizards, Spot and Louie and their babies
Bambi and Wiggles the rats RIP.
My3LilMonkeys replied: We have:
3 cats: Batcat. Riddles and Firefly
1 American Eskimo Mix dog: Joker
That's it for now. At various times in the past we've had uncountable numbers of fish, several gerbils/hamsters, and hermit crabs. DH has been talking about getting piranhas again because they are really fun fish, but we don't really have the room right now.
Boys r us replied: We have 2 fish, Gerald and Jermaine 1 dog named Cutler who is a 9 month old Boxer 1 Calico cat named Scarlet, 3 yrs
luvbug00 replied: my2monkeyboys good grief Mya would LOVE to live with you and all those critters!
we have one fat fat fat FAT cat sparkle.. mya has a hampster at nana's named izzy as well
Nina J replied: None for us at the moment. I am thinking about it. But, we lost a pet at the start of the year. A sulphur-crested cockatoo - he didn't live with us, but everyone in the family considered him their pet. Cockatoo's can live to be over 100 and he'd been in the family since before I was born, so it was very hard on all of us. This was in March, totally unexpected, we had been visiting family and had played with Fred for over an hour and said bye-bye to him- he could wave and say 'Ta-Ta!". I got the call the following morning that he'd died during the night. It was such a sad day, my family all got together. All these grown men and women crying over a bird He was beautiful.

edited to say: It is very hard to tell their age, but one of the ways you can tell is by their beaks. A young cockatoo will have a smoother, black beak. The older they get, the more worn their beaks get and the more white lines they have on them. This photo was taken in January of this year.
A&A'smommy replied: We have one little long-haired chihuahua, he is spoiled and gets on my nerves most of the time but I love him
youngmomofone replied: No pets here but we used to have a pup named Kane. Had to get rid of him though because my oldest was terrified of him. I couldn't do that to her.
moped replied: We don't have any pets...........I have a fake cat and dog names Thomasina and Chase! LOL
3xsthefun replied: Jake- 1 1/2 year old Lab/Border Collie mix Fuzzy Wuzzy- 9 year old cat Tony- 1 yr old cat We also have stray cat that has been here about 2 yrs. No name. Fred- 10 yr old red ear slider turtle (we have had her for 5 years)
coasterqueen replied: Gavin - almost 2 year old Saint Bernard mix - all black (dog) Buster - just turned 1 on 5/22 - pure bred all black cocker spaniel
Hayley - almost 2 years old calico cat Sox - almost 2 years old all black cat with white socks
Poor Hayley is my only female furbaby.
I want a pure bred Saint Bernard, Great Dane, Great Pyrenese, and Teacup Yorkie. Ryan said "NO WAY!", but I told him he can't say no. I'm done having babies so let me have more furbabies. He said "ok".
I'd love to have a horse, but don't have the time to take care of one. I'd also like to have some goats to keep our brush down in the timber acreage we have - we may do this some day. I'd also like some bunnies and chickens. Don't think Dh is going to go for those.
We've done fish and hamsters - no more on those.
I also want a teacup piglet or a royal dandy, but they are like 5 grand and Ryan said their ugly. My cousins have always had pot belly pigs and Ryan doesn't like them.

And here is a pic of a teacup piglet, so cute!!!!!!!!!!
DVFlyer replied: No new additions...
Ginger- Our Australian Shepherd Mia- The indoor cat Bella- The adopted stray who sleeps in our garage and takes care of our gophers.
my2monkeyboys replied: Oh, I forgot about our 2 fire-belly toads... they share Will's tank with his fishies.
Ok Moped, I have to ask.... how do you have a fake cat and dog??
mom21kid2dogs replied: We have the world's best pound puppy, Parker. Aside from that we belong to the "goldfish of the month" club. Seems like every month we are fishing out a floater and replacing it.
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: 11 Year old Cocker Spaniel named Bailey 5 Year old Lhasa Apso name Lucky (we adopted him)
moped replied: Haha, they are called Perfect Pets, they come in a little bed and have batteries and breath up and down and are cooo cute. There is a pic on facebook where my sister is squishing one - the album is called "Fun with Aunties"
PrairieMom replied: I still just have the 2 dogs, Nike the mini ausi Shepperd, Who I may just have to secretly do away with on account of her orchestrating a baby diaper massacre in my basement yesterday... I was kind a hoping she would die of diaper poisoning... Ok, not really , but she shredded 5 diapers... it was a huge disgusting mess...
and Lycos, the lab boarder collie mix who is so huge , old and hot that he doesn't move anymore. Poor thing.
kit_kats_mom replied: diaper massacare
my2monkeyboys replied: Nina, that is such a sweet looking bird!! I know I would miss him!
And I have to say, a teacup piglet has to be the CUTEST thing I've ever seen!!!! I Want One!!!
kit_kats_mom replied: I know me too. Mustn't let the children hear of their existence or they will badger me till the end of time for one. That's a little out of our price range for pets.
coasterqueen replied: Mine too. I blame my friend who turned me on to them. She knew her nor I could afford it, but nooooooooooo she just had to show those darn cute things.
