MyLuvBugs replied: Wasn't this same message posted by another newbie Dr. like a month ago?
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Lol I think so.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: No - that was DrSaraWard with her son!
DrRJL replied:
Sorry. Wasn't me. But I did see that too, I've been reading around this bored for a while. It's fun.
I just keep hearing such bad stories with myspace, i just want to know other parents opinions on it.
Crystalina replied: You know what? I'm 32 and it's too wild for me! I jumped off as soon as I got on. Maybe if your kids are just talking to their friends but nowadays you never know. Gosh, what are they gonna have when Izabella and Evan get to be teens?
Crystalina replied: I say monitor, monitor, monitor! My kids are going to hate me. I have the pc in the livingroom now and that's where it's staying. They will NEVER have be able to have one in their rooms. I know alot of kids that do and it's scary.
gr33n3y3z replied: If parents watch their kids and the KIDS dont go looking for trouble most likely it wont find them but nothing is 100% You can get tweeks to hide things on the pages I was looking at those just a few min. ago so you can make the page very safe Edited to say: And I have 4 kids that use myspace plus myself
luvbug00 replied: I am on myspace look at my siggy and My children will be alowed on it as long as I have their passcode and can acess their page. Monitoring is key.
BTW the confusion is from another new poster who faked their Id everyone is a little shocked by it still i think.. I sure was. Sorry it rubbed off here.
Crystalina replied: hmm, I must have missed that one.
Crystalina replied: I've been to yours...it's very nice.
holley79 replied: My stepson is 17 and on Myspace and my neice Kara is on Myspace also. She has her age posted as 17 so I was going to call her mama this weekend and just see what the deal was. I have Brandon's passcodes and can access it at anytime. My SIL and I both look out for each other's young un. Monitor it, that's the main key.
JAYMESMOM replied: My teenage sister is on myspace and so am I and several of my friends we are in are late 20-40s.
I think the key is to monitor your chidlren whenever and whereever they go on the internet.
There are also ways on My Space to set it up so that you preview everything people post on your page, comments, etc. and that they be approved prior to sending messages etc.
I think kids (teens) need to make sure they arent looking for trouble. If you dont know the person dont give them access to send you information. Also anyone under 14 or with their age listed as 14 cannot have people access their page unless they are on their approved friends list.
The main key is monitoring yoru children. Our computer is also in the living room and that is where it will stay. I am sure when my kids get older they wont like it but tough poop.
gr33n3y3z replied: I was just on my youngest daughters and I saw her friend yelling at my daughter and I went to look and see what was up I went right into her friends myspace she has that she is 18 and thats what my daughter was saying to her your not 18 lol. So there is a perfect example why these young girls get in so much trouble on there. Now that I saw that do I tell her mother or just watch it
jcc64 replied: My 13 yr old uses it sporadically, and so far, I haven't seen anything inappropriate. I keep an eye on it.
JAYMESMOM replied: I would probably have your daughter let her know that her mom seen it and she should change it since you are going to tell her parents.
If that doesnt work I would let the parents know.
But be ready for a I dont care response. There is 9 year old neighbor boy that made a myspace and his mom thinks it is funny when we told her. Some people dont care so just in case be prepared.
gr33n3y3z replied: yeah I know what you mean about ppl. attitude I will see if Katie can talk to her first about it.
ashtonsmama replied: I didn't catch that either...oops. Is this person the same too?!?
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I thought you had to be 18 to be on myspace...guess I was wrong.
gr33n3y3z replied: nope 14 your info is protected I think its 16 thats not protected
