My poor mom - dog died, she's REALLY mad at my dad!

My poor mom, she's sooooo mad at him, I don't think I've ever EVER seen her this mad! Not even when I was a teenager! She won't even answer his calls. This dog was HER dog, KWIM? And she'd rescued her from a really bad home so she's so upset that she suffered and didn't get taken care of the way my mom would have had she been there. My poor dad feels awful too, he really didn't think she was that sick and had been so behind at work, I guess he just figured it could wait.

Anyway, it may sound silly but say a prayer for my mom please, and actually my dad probably needs some too, for when she gets a hold of him!

mckayleesmom replied: Big hugs and prayers to your mom and dad. Remember, your mom just lost her dad and she is probably upset about her dog, yet taking her hurt out on your dad for this too...kwim? Chances are, the dog was probably beyond help already. Shes just overwhelmed right now and has to explode somehow.

luvmykids replied: I think she's so mad at him b/c last night she told him to take her to the ER for animals and he didn't, even if the dog died anyway my mom would've felt like they tried, KWIM?

Edward's Mommy replied: I understand! Our family dog (the one I grew up with) died in November last year and she had a cancerous tumor explode in her stomach. She had been going down hill for a month before that. It got to the point where she stopped eating. My dad was hoping that she would die on her own so he would have to face putting her down. The day she died, my grandmother heard her crying and she had to help Sammie (our dog) walk. Mema (my grandmother) called my dad and said 'I think Sam is dying here'. She was crying and Dad rushed home. They took her to the vet. She was still alive when they got her to the vet, the vet went to get a needle to put her down, and she passed away in my dad's arms. Her food and water bowls are still sitting in the same spot they were when I moved out. There's food, a treat, and a piece of popcorn in the bowl. Mema still changes Sammie's water. My parents have Sammie's ashes in an urn.

She quit eating about a week ago also, which is when I took her in. My dad thought since she was drinking and up and around she wasn't too bad, he got her cremated for my mom too. I feel sorry for my mom and dad, he feels sooo bad, and she feels like they let Sadie down by not taking care of her in the end. On one hand I know it's "just" a dog, but on the other hand ....

And she was only 7yo, so it's weird.

3xmommy replied: I know how your mom feels. Right now I have three birds (Lemonhead, Mickey, and Melon), three cats (Fatboi, Yello, and Precious) and a little puppy named Daisy. I love my animals. I had a dog recently die after having him for almost 11 years and trust me, I still cry for him... and my dog Tippy who I had for five years after rescuing her from the animal control man. (he was gonna put her to sleep because of her old age and she was nippy with him)... so yeah... it does hurt when one dies, they become part of your family. I even catch myself talking to my pets! LOL

She's not 'just' a dog, she's a member of the family. And your mom and dad loved her. Mema still can't talk about Sammie without crying and there are days when I think about her and I miss her so much. She was an amazing pet and an amazing member of our family!!! I hope your mom feels better. My dad always said "You always out live your pets, whether you like it or not." But that doesn't mean you or I have to enjoy it!!!
