My little artist (pic inside) - Warning: Mommy Brag
MommyToAshley wrote: Ashley was sitting around the corner of the office today with her crayons. She comes up and asks for a sheet of paper. I give it to her. After about 20 minutes, she asks for the scissors, and I tell her she has to sit down and cut. Then she asks for the glue.
Eventually she comes up to me and says, "Look Mom, I made you a mail truck" And this is what she had made ... all by herself without a pattern or anything. (It's hard to see in the picture, but she glued two wheels on it)
She said she was going to have the mail truck bring me some mail after lunch. Where do they come up with this stuff... so cute, but so funny too!
Edited for typos.

MommyToAshley replied: Thanks. She's really improved with the scissors lately. She LOVES crafts of any kind and the only thing that keeps her occupied for more than a few minutes is paper, scissors and glue. I didn't even think about letting her cut with scissors until we met her preschool teacher before school started. Her teacher said that they would be doing a lot of cutting... and now that's all Ashley wants to do.
She also drew a picture of a chicken the other day, and it looked just like a chicken. I thought DH had actually drawn it for her. So, I asked her if she was going to be an artist and she said, "No... I'm a singer"
booey2 replied: Way to Ashley, I still have a hard time letting Thomas (now 4 in JK) use scissors without me right there.
MommyToAshley replied: Usually she is right beside me when she cuts. This is the first time she was out of my sight, but she was right around the corner where I could hear her. I could not see her, but DH could. And, we've had many many conversations about only cutting paper.
luvmykids replied: Us too, but Kylie managed to forget and trimmed her bangs this weekend I don't even think I can fix it!
booey2 replied: That is good that at least one of you could see her. Matthew got hold of scissors at their age and decided he needed a hair cut right before class pictures were taken, I was able to hide the area but if you look hard enough you can still see it.
MommyToAshley replied: I'm always afraid Ashley is going to cut her hair too. She leans forward when she is cutting, and her hair gets in the way. So, the first thing I do is pull her hair back... but I have nightmares about her cutting the ponytail off. I know it only take a second for them to cut their hair.
luvmykids replied: Once before we got pics taken I decided to trim up Colt's hair, didn't put the guard on the shaver and buzzed it straight down the middle!
I think Kylie only did it b/c I've been telling her we need to trim her bangs ...didn't mean SHE needed to do it
