My kid is such a wierdo - Feeding stuff
kit_kats_mom wrote: We are still having food "issues" but I'm really trying not to harp on it because I dont' want her to have some sort of wierd food thing when she gets older. We focus on the positive and she gets a sticker everytime she eats well at dinner...well meaning more than 2 bites of anything
Some days are better than others and I do realize that she is snacking and she is gaining so it's ok, just a bit frusterating sometimes.
Tonight though, I made tomato soup, salad & peaches for DH and I. Since K said she wasn't hungry, I just made her a chicken finger and a small bowl of peaches & figured she might eat a bit while she sat at the table with us. The little turkey jumped up to the table and started demanding soup so I made her a small bowl. She ate over a cup of tomato soup...what kind of wierd kid likes tomato soup? she was just shoveling it in, slurping away and pausing occasionally for a 'mmm" or a "yummy".
I suppose it is a bit like ketchup soup but still.
I just kind of wish she'd like more fatty foods. Instead her current faves are now tomato soup and broccoli.
amynicole21 replied: Sophia loves tomato soup, too! She has to have a grilled cheese with it, and will only eat it like mommy - dipping the sandwich into the soup. She is so silly. But, she'll finish a whole bowl by herself, so I'm not complaining!
BTW, every time Sophia sees your avatar she says "Kaffin!" She remembers her
ediep replied: wow!! Thats great, Jason flips out if I try to give him broccoli, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't eat soup.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Mmmmmm! I have always loved tomato soup (and broccoli ). That is funny though that being as picky as she is she would eat tomato soup!
kit_kats_mom replied: That's so sweet! We need to get together again but I fear that with the holidays and the upcoming arrival of Lauren, it may be a while.
Maybe we can plan a February trip to your neck of the woods.
maestra replied: At least Kat will look at things of the vegetable group. I have to stick them in a blender and mix them with spaghetti sauce to get Jaci to eat them. Maybe she would like tomato soup with grilled cheese, but she hasn't liked grilled cheese lately. Oh well.
Gatalita replied: Zuriel *REALLY* doesn't like brocolli and I haven't tried giving him any soup yet. But, it's an idea.
However, that is a really cute.
coasterqueen replied: One of Kylie's favorite is tomato soup! One of mommy's too . Kylie can eat tomato soup like it's going out of style.
kit_kats_mom replied: Ok...well, maybe she isn't such a wierdo after all. It just struck me as an odd choice for a toddler.
Thanks ladies!
kimberley replied: my boys don't care for tomato soup but the 2 girls i babysat for loved it. that and the vegetable tomato soup! so maybe it is just a girl thing kinda like more women than men like salads?
redchief replied: Kit can have ALL my tomato soup
kit_kats_mom replied: She say's thank you! LOL
A&A'smommy replied: OH my mom had problems with me when I was little when I was her age about the only my mom could get me to eat was LETTUCE. Anyway at least she likes to eat healthy
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley loves tomato soup and grilled cheese. Probably because I craved tomato stuff when I was PG with her.
Ashley's favorite food of all time is broccoli... she asks for it every meal.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I haven't tried tomato soup with Jade yet. She kind of ate some of the veggie soup I had the other day. Now grilled cheese she will eat, anything with cheese she will eat.
She also likes spicy foods. Now that I think is weird, and she will eat lemons with me.
Josie83 replied: Sounds as tho she's eating healthy but not fatty . . . the reverse problem a lot of mums have! My child is also a bit weird, in that she really will eat anything and everything, yet still is a tiny little thing! She loves tomato soup and all that, as long as Daddy's eating it she'll eat it too! I hope she starts putting on a few pounds soon! xx
Kaitlin'smom replied: mummm now I am hungry for tomato soup and grill cheese
Kaitlin HATES broccoli, infact the only veggie she will actually eat is corn, she will try others but wont eat them they only touch her toung
and she is not a fan of bread so she will barily eat grill cheese, but she did try some tomato soup and liekd it....hay thats an idea of what to keep around when I am at a loss what to feed her. I get tired of the samethings
DansMom replied: I have to admit that I'm comforted to hear about other moms having picky eaters who just snack. It's hard to get a meal into Daniel. The single chicken finger and bowl of peaches sounds SOOO familiar! And being allergic to milk and egg makes the fattening options more limited. I tried some health food jello the other day. He said "mmm! peaches!" after the first bite. He said "mmm! fruit!" after the second bite. He ate two more bites. Then he said "no no no!" and pushed it away. This is typical---eating half of what's on his plate.
I've been sprinking flax oil on veggies I make for him. Lots of omega-3. He is gaining in height and foot size, and is 1.5 pounds heavier than he was at 18 months. I try not to create stress either---I know what you mean. DH has food issues, and maybe these things are genetic, but we don't need to add to the problem, right?
kit_kats_mom replied: OMG I can't even imagine food allergies on top of this. That has to really stink.
At least I can try most anything with K even though she usually hates it. Or worse, she will love it and gobble it up so I go and buy a lot of it and then she quits eating it. She did this with hot dogs.
I KWYM about only eating a little bit of something too. K does the same thing. She will sometimes suprise us by eating all of something (usually it's ice cream LOL) but that's really rare. I throw away more food than I care to admit.
3_call_me_mama replied: That's Exactally how cameron eats his too! He loves tomato soup adn dips his grilled cheese in it! Although his favorite soup, has been since about 7 months old, is minestrone! talk about WIERD!!
