A gas grill, every grill master tires of charcole and if he grills alot he will appreciate the conveince.
If you buy tools go to a place that knows, ie. sears, spend a little and buy him a complete set, the sales guy will set you straight, no Wallmart brand tools suck and they will just lead to bloody knuckles.
no fishing stuff! guys know what the need and like and anything out side of that will sit in the bottom of his tackle box. the onley exception is if he cut the picture out of a catalogue and left it in plain site, then and onley then buy the exact same one, no substitutions!
Be careful with the smelly stuff, you might think it smells good but he probebly thinks it smells like grandma.
No gift certificates, it shows no effort, and realy we value that the most.
Now a perfumed gift certificate promising later bedroom fun is perfectly exceptable.
If you buy him clothes, open the dresser and look at what clothes he has, stay within that style, deviate and the clothes will never leave the closet,ladies most strait men do not like to look like a backstreet boy.

I bought my dad and I a Weber Gold Series gas grill two years ago. Haven't had the charcoal out since. I run into house fires for free, tear cars apart with hydraulic rescue tools, regularly do CPR and hang hundreds of feet off the ground by a 1/2 inch of nylon rope. Call me a whimp
