My husband ran over our dog! - I am so sad

TANNER'S MOM wrote: We have an Australian Sheppard named Jenny..She is a cow dog and a very good dog. My husband went out to feed and check the cattle today. And he said she was running up the hill in front of him, and he said suddenly she stopped, He don't know why she stopped but she did. He said he hit his brake, but he is in the pasture in 4 wheel drive but he kept sliding and he killed her. He called me and the kids were crying and Tanner was screaming Dad killed her. It was awful.

He said he was gonna dig her a spot and we would have a funeral when I got home. He went in th bedroom and called me and told me he was very upset. She was his cow dog, riding in the back of the truck etc... He was crying.

elvisfan replied: Oh that's terrible! I know my dh accidentally ran over our boys cat. It was early so he buried it and then promptly went out and bought a new one! He couldn't stand the thought of telling our boys. I also had to get my dog of 11yrs put to sleep because of a brain tumor on Dec. 3rd and it was so hard. I cried a lot.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well you get really attached to the dogs. Especially this one b/c she was a farm dog she worked for her food just like us. It saddens me so much that she worked so hard for our family and then she died. I think that is what saddens me most...

loveydad replied: I'm sorry. That's how we lost our dog a few months ago and it's always sad.
Our dogs are also cowdogs but we'r really close to them. This summer we lost a cowdog we've had for about 9-10 years - she died of old age. Chased me all the way up a 5-6 mile four wheeler ride, all the way home, and another mile up to the bridge, and home again. The next day she passed away, but I'm glad she got that one last run

My2Beauties replied: OMG how awful, it is terrible and saddening to lose a family pet! I remember crying for days over a kitten I had just gotten that was malnourished and I was feeding her through a syringe, she eventually died after 3 days and I bawled because I was already attached, so having one die after so many years is probably heart breaking! I am so sorry and your family and your dear puppy is in my prayers!
