My friends baby is no longer with us

She was with her babysitter in the car and Shaelyn somehow came out of her carseat and got caught on the straps of the carseat and hung herself. Apparently the babysitter never noticed The mom is 9 weeks pregnant and we are all scared she might loose this one with the stress.
MommyToAshley replied: Oh gosh, how aweful for everyone. I can't even imagine.
My thoughts and prayers are with them.
mummy2girls replied: First of all I am so sorry for your friend.. losing a child is never easy for sure((((HUGS)))
Second.. ok cmon if that child was strapped properly that wouldnt of happened and secondly how can teh babysitter not notice that? WOW... That babysitter should be charged for sure... what a tragedy!!!!!
moped replied: WHat? OMG......that is terrible.
So she wasn't in her carseat properly?
lisar replied: I know that. But right now the Mom isnt thinking along those lines. I think she is still in shock. I am not sure what will happen with the babysitter. I think she done something wrong obviously. But the Mom is just in shock still.
mummy2girls replied: no dont get me wrong. i didnt mean the cmon directly at you believe me.. I knwo the pain of losing a child.. You know my losses. I know she will be in shock and i know she is not in a sate of mind to do anything. I just meant cmon because the whole situation is horrible!!!!
lisar replied: Oh I know I didnt take it that way. I know something isnt right there with the babysitter and all. And I know that the Mom will see that, but right now she is just so in shock. They dont live here in Florida they live up north. Her dad just left to go up there. I grew up with her. I think she will do something about the babysitter for sure. As far as I know nothing has been done yet, but once her dad gets there I am sure he will be doing something. If they can do anything at all. Its a 10hour drive so he wont be there till tonight.
moped replied: Did it happen today????
lisar replied: Yesterday.
lisar replied: Here is a link to it, the news story is a little diffrent from what I heard though. But I am getting it from some pretty upset people. http://www.dailypress.com/news/dp-local_ba...0,6529477.story
Crystalina replied: OMG! What a horrible story Lisa. I'm so sorry for your friend. I couldn't imagine. That's a phone call you never expect to get after leaving your child with a babysitter. I hope she doesn't lose the baby also.
That is one of my major fears. I never let my kids in a car with someone else driving because I feel like something like this would happen. It's one of the issues I really need to see a therapist about but then I hear something like this and I feel even stronger about it. I know people have to work though and they need to let their kids go with other people but this is really sad. I hope something is done with the sitter as well. I'm sure she didn't mean for this to happen (who would?) but if that baby was fastened properly this would not have happened. How did she not know a 6 mos. old got out of her seat? Lord!
Crystalina replied: I understand how it happened now. That same thing happened here with a woman that had twins. She did the top straps of the car seat in the house, ran upstairs to get a diaperbag and came back down and her baby had choked because she never fastened the one that comes up between the legs.
I can see where this was a total accident but still very sad.
