My father has a small form of cancer

C&K*s Mommie replied: Thanks you guys. It hit me last Thursday night, that he told me he had a biopsy earlier that evening ;however, with so much going on in my head it flew by at that time. Not until later that night in class did it settle with me. Then last night while we were going to sleep it hit me again. I had a moment of sadness in the pillow, when Chris uplifted my spirits.

Kinda wierd that he, who had not had a cold in ages (honestly since he was in the military which was before we were born) got one recently for the first time in a long time. He who always eats well. Takes his vitamins religiously. So it knocks some theories out of my mind about what can cause some forms of cancer. Goes to show anyone who is the healthiest among healthiest can get it, I suppose.

jcc64 replied: It's very scary to hear that a relative's been diagnosed with cancer, but if treated appropriately and early enough, lots of people survive and go on to live normal, full lives. I hope your dad does well, you all will be in my thoughts.

My Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year so I know how scary it can be to hear the "C" word and your Dad in the same sentence. My Dad's cancer was a slow growing cancer and they caught it very early. While the outlook was good, and everyone kept emphasizing the positive, it was stilll cancer. I was scared out of my mind. I don't know what I would do without my Dad.

My Dad decided on a course of treatment, and now has fully recovered. In fact, I keep getting on him for riding his bicycle 36 miles ... I think he pushes himself too hard sometimes. But, my point is that he is fully recovered and healthy now.

I am glad to hear your Dad has such a positive outlook. I think that so important when it comes to recovery. I often thought that my parents were in denial because they had such a positive outlook, but maybe that is what helped my Dad to recover so quickly?

Many thoughts and prayers for you, your Dad, and your family. Please keep us posted on how he is doing. If you ever want to talk, please PM me. It helped me to talk to Jeanne and some others who had been through something similar.
