My OB visit today
EvesMom wrote: Well, I went for my OB visit, and I didn't exactly get good news. I'm no longer a slightly high risk, now I'm full blown High Risk. My last U/S revealed that Jesse's kindneys are enlarged (the higher end of normal). I'm not exactly sure what this means, but from what I've been hearing, it could mean something really bad. Next week on wednesday I have to go for a NST, I have to go for weekly visits now, and another u/s in 2 weeks. I know I should stay positive, but in my heart I feel I should prepare myself for the worst.
lisar replied: I hope all goes well. I say keep your spirits up.
A&A'smommy replied: Oh honey that is definitly scary but try to stay positive I know thats easier said than done!!!
moped replied: Did they give any indication on what that could mean??
hopefulmomtobe replied: That sounds scary and I will say my prayers with you. Do they have to give the baby anibitiocs when born or did they talk about it much right now??
3xsthefun replied: I'm so sorry your appointment didn't go very well. I hope that everything will be ok.

EvesMom replied: A possible congenital defect in association with single umbilical artery.
Mommy2BAK replied: Sorry but I don't know what all of that means, but hopefully its just a fluke thing and once they go back and look at it everything will look normal and be fine. Keep us posted!!
Bamamom replied: I am so sorry - I especially empathize cause we have the same due date.
A friend of mine had the same thing and it turned out that the duct that drains the urine into the bladder wasn't fully developed yet so the kidneys were enlarged. In his case the problem corrected itself before birth but they said that this was something that could be fixed with minor surgury.
I don't know if that helps but know that I'll be praying and thinking about you and little Jesse.
DillsMommy replied: Sorry to hear that. It sounds similar to something that happened to my friend. They could tell something was wrong with her sons kidneys ( they appear dark in some spots on the US) he had to have surgary the day after he was born to have one kidney removed. It was scary but everything turned out fine and now he's a healthy, 3 year old. I've heard that kidney problems are more common in boys. Sorry if thats not much help, try to stay positive.
MotherForever2043 replied: So sorry to hear that. I hope everything goes smoothly.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I'm sorry Bethany! I hope everything is ok and it can be easily fixed.
