My DH the jokester.... - my poor DD, the brunt of the joke

hopefulmomtobe wrote: So - last night before I got home from work, my DS (15 yrs old) and my DH thought it would be funny to play a joke on my DD (12 yrs old). She had a Pepsi that was almost gone, they put dark vinegar in her pepsi bottle and my DH told her to finish up her drink. Needless to say she spit it out all over the place...my DH said DS almost peed his pants from laughing so hard. BOYS!! You just can never change them.

Thank goodness my DD laughed and didnt freak out like she normally would.

grapfruit replied: AH! that's mean. dry.gif Poor girl! smile.gif At least she was able to laugh too. Where did they even think to do that?

Danalana replied: Yikes, I would have hurt somebody!
Or something. And then I would have started plotting my revenge.

Calimama replied: That is beyond disgusting.

hopefulmomtobe replied: I agree, it is beyond gross!!! Thank goodness she didnt swollow it, and yes I did get mad when I found out. But, they are always pulling jokes like that...for whatever reason they think it is funny...my husband acts like he is 10 as it is. UGH...and that ladies and gentlemen is my life as I know it!! UGH!!!

But - I must say, they normally just do things in good fun, nothing like that...I dont know why DH thought that would be funny, but I give up and dont even try to figure it out anymore. smile.gif

cameragirl21 replied: idk, i think that is mean. i LOVE vinegar but it's very sour and it's pure acid and can mess up someone's throat and stomach lining if they drink too much at once, not to mention it wears down the enamel on their teeth.
call me a stick in the mud but jokes like that i just don't find amusing at all and if i were your DD i'd be beyond livid.

hopefulmomtobe replied:
She is a good sport, I guess she has to be with having so many brothers!! smile.gif

She didnt swallow it, she spit it out, thank goodness. Poor kid.

Calimama replied:
Is she plotting her revenge yet? rolling_smile.gif

Twelve Volt Man replied:
But so funny!

hopefulmomtobe replied:
Yes, with Mom's help!!! smile.gif

kimberley replied: rolleyes.gif boys will be boys happy.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I dont find that in the least bit funny, its beyond mean and if her father had a part in it well then..............

MoonMama replied: ohmy.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Wendy, i don't mean to make a big deal about this and i hope what i'm about to say doesn't offend or upset you but i think you should make DH and your son apologize to your dd for what they did. even if she was a good sport about it, the fact is that your DH disrespected her and encouraged your son, her big brother to disrespect her too and by laughing it off, it sends the message that it's ok for the men in her life to disrespect her.
this really isn't funny, it's acid and not meant to be gulped. what if she had swallowed it? she would have had some God awful indigestion and it could have hurt for her to pee, or she could have choked on it and had a lungful of acid. maybe i sound over protective or old fashioned but i am just so not amused by these sorts of things...practical jokes are one thing but something like that where someone can get hurt and (male) family members are getting their jollies out of a girl's discomfort is just crossing the line of good taste.
i think both your dh and your son and even your daughter need to be made to understand that these things just aren't acceptable...she really could have gotten hurt...some people have horrible digestive problems from acidic foods and i don't know of a single person who can tolerate a mouthful of acid.
i just think letting this go or plotting some revenge sends a bad message to all involved.
this is of course JMO and should not be taken as anything more than that.

lovemykiddies replied: I don't think it was a very funny joke, especially considering who planned it (a father!) I agree that dad and brother should apologize...personally, I would have a hard time trusting people like this. Maybe I don't know the whole story behind their relationship, but it seems really innapropriate.

I will admit that I might be biased, because I have a VERY strong aversion to vinegar...I absolutely detest it, especially the smell. So I really feel for your daughter!

Hope it all works out though!
