Mr. Independant - Jack

moped wrote: So he has been getting up the morning and making DH and I coffee, YES he makes it all my himself and doesn' tseem to spill water or coffee on the floor, don't ask me how rolleyes.gif and he actually makes a pretty good pot of coffee. I asked how he knew how to make it right and he said he watches us do it everyday. He wakes up and comes int o give me a hug and I say I will see him downstairs and by the time I get there he is almost done making coffee.

Then this weekend at MIL's he decided he should wash his clothes so he striped down and put his clothes in her fancy new european washing machine and started it all by himself and he actually did it right.

I am not balking the independance, but these aren't things I want him doing....but then again maybe they are tongue.gif

I don't think I have that much trust in him to do these things.

There are so many more things but these are the 2 big ones that come to mind.

What are your kids doing?

My3LilMonkeys replied: thumb.gif Wow, good for him! He is really growing up!

Madison had her first "babysitting" job a few weeks ago. Brooke was sleeping cause she was sick and the baby was asleep for the night as well and I needed to shovel the driveway, so I paid Madison a dollar to keep an eye on the other 2 and come knock on the front window if anyone woke up while I was outside. She was so proud of herself - she carried that dollar around for days. wub.gif

moped replied:
Soooooo sweet. I bet she was thrilled!

CantWait replied: That's awesome!!!!!!!!! wub.gif wub.gif

I can't say Anthony is doing anything like that, he's still in I want to destroy everything stage, although he's getting better with that.

mom21kid2dogs replied:
rolling_smile.gif Could he come over and teach Stephen this trick?? He's 52 and he still can't make a decent cup of coffee rolling_smile.gif Like Jack, he doesn't drink the stuff either!

Sounds like you have a bright little guy on your hands!! thumb.gif

CantWait replied:
Thanks, so you're saying that there's not much hope for Ron dry.gif dry.gif
I'm the designated tea/coffee maker in the family.

MommyToAshley replied: Wow.. you have a smart little bugger on your hands.

I have to agree with you though... I don't think I would want Ashley around anything that heats up without my supervision. She can make her own breakfast (toast, cereal, pour herself some juice, etc) and she likes to help me cook, but she knows she's not to do it without me in the kitchen. Sometimes I think I am too over-protective and stiffle her independence but then I can't get the "what ifs" out of my head.

Kaitlin'smom replied: Dang, can he come and have my coffee ready for me?

Kaitlin can use the toaster on setting 1 only the lowest, and DH has helped her with the microwave but she has always done that with supervision. She recently has been streighting my hair for me also on the lowest setting, she is pretty good at it, but her arms get tired so I end up having to finish. She wants to curl my hair we tried but it was a little to much for her, and I am worried she will forget and touch the hot part so I am not in a hurry for her to master that. I wont let her use the stove that one really scares me. She does like to help cook so I let her do the simple things, and she will set the table, she can almost get it right. love2.gif

lisar replied: can he come and give my kids lessons on how to wash their clothes and make me coffee? I would love that. And maybe wash the dishes to that would be the best.

mom21kid2dogs replied:
laugh.gif Sorry 'bout your luck (and mine) Marie! Not much hope in the coffee department. Otherwise, though, he's wonderfully trained! wink.gif

moped replied: I did about 5 loads of laundry last night so there are 3 baskets (Jack, Laila, Me) I put hte baskets outside their room slast night and Tom phoned to say he put all his clothes away from the basket outside his room - NOW THAT IS A GOOD THING!!!!!! tongue.gif

Not sure what has gotten into him but I will take it I guess!!!!!!!!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
that is a GOOD thing. I have Kaitlin put what clothes she can away. mainly so she knows where to find them when she gets dressed.

mckayleesmom replied: Go Jack...

Can he come over and teach Mckaylee how to do the dishes? rolling_smile.gif
