Now this is going to be my wifes FIRST mothers day and I could really use some cool, not to expencive ideas which could show her how much I appreceate her for all that she does and is....
Thanks!!! Frank

ammommy replied: How about a certificate to the local salon for a pedicure. They run about $40-$50 for the full pampering treatment and mommy gets some "me" time. It's my favorite gift
Daisyx3 replied: Well my dh did a collage for me.. Pictures of our wedding and our kids.. Since you have just one baby you could do pics of your wedding and pics of you dating and him..
A massage would be nice or pedicure.
A day off would be great too.take the baby give her money and say go shop till you drop. hehe
mom21kid2dogs replied: I did this for Stehen's first Father's Day~ he still cherishes it. I found a really beautiful card with a poem about fathers on the front. Then I collected our most fav pics of Olivia and he, made copies and had the entire thing professionally framed with the plaque saying "Stephen's First Father's Day."
Other ideas~I love jewlery with Olivia's birthstones in it~earrings, necklace, etc. I've gotten several close friends a "Loving Family" necklace. (here's an example of it http://www.swiftarrow.com/necklace/5106.html) I don't think my sister has ever taken hers off. My best friend still tells me that it's her fav piece of jewerly.
I'm sure you'll get plenty of ideas here!
guertin31 replied: Thanks so much! I made her videos and all kinds of romantic picture slides and things already (its on my sons web site under videos if you want to see!)

I like the birthstone idea, but the link you send is not working...
Keep em coming! Frank
DansMom replied: I totally think a beautiful locket with a little picture of your beautiful boy inside would melt her heart---that's what I want anyway!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: jewlery with his birthston is good, or the spa is god. Are you able to go out with im and have a picture done of the two of you? I would love a pic of my DH and daughter together, framed so I can put it on my desk at work.
sounds like you will have tons of things to choose from
jolene555 replied: i would make the whole day special. barry's first father's day (with me, lol) i made him his favorite breakfast. it was supposed to be in bed, but lord knows he'd smell it and come running. i had made all these cards/notes for him. a couple were actual cards that were perfect for him, and i had written a poem and put georgia's footprints all over it, and others were pictures of the 2 of them framed, and there was a picture i had drawn of them sleeping together. then i took them and put them all over the house - anywhere where i knew he'd find them (medicine cabinet, in the fridge in front of the pepsi, on his keyboard, on his steering wheel in his car, going up the stairs, hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the hallway, taped to his cigarette lighter).
it takes some time to get ready, but i would LOVE it if he had done something like that for me. and you could incorporate a massage gift certificate into it, flowers, anything.
oh yah, and another idea . . . do you have a build-a-bear workshop near you??? i have a teddy bear that barry made me, and he sits next to the bed at all times. if you don't know what i'm talking about, it's this place where you go and actually make your own bear/stuffed animal. you pick out which animal you want, stuff it, dress it, the works. and you can record your voice and put it inside. mine has barry saying "goodnight, love, i miss you". www.buildabearworkshop.com you can make one online if you don't have a store around you.
guertin31 replied: Cool! I like I like!! I just sent her flowers today to get that old idea out of the way LOL... THanks for the ideas!!!!
You all ROCK!!
kit_kats_mom replied: Honestly, the gift of alone time is great when you are a new mom. For a cheap gift that would mean the world to me, make up some gift certificates that she can redeem anytime for you to hold the baby while she does whatever she wants. Maybe a movie ticket for her and a girlfriend etc. I love my babies but any time I can get out of the house without them, even to the grocery store, feels like time off. That's stuff she would use after mothers day.
On the day itself, I like to spend the day doing what the day is about...mothering and spending time with my family. DH cooks breakfast (and generally takes over all cleaning duties that day, including diaper duty..all in all, he attempts to make my life easy and enjoyable that day), then we usually go to a park or some other family friendly place and spend the day just enjoying the family. I also like to have DH take pictures of me and the kiddos every mothers day. When we lived in the same hometown as my mom and grandma, we also met them for a nice Dinner out.
guertin31 replied: I reallllly like that idea! Thanks!
texasp3 replied: I promise you, ANYTHING you do that shows you were planning in advance and thinking of her and what would make her day special will be a total success!
I completely agree that the gift of time to herself, or time alone with you (do you have someone you would trust to babysit?) is extremely precious to a new Mom. Anything you make or have made that commemorates the fact that she's now a mother will probably just make her bawl. Oh heck, I'm going to cry just THINKING about how much that would mean to me.
guertin31 replied: LOL - COOL !!!! You guys are makin this easy for me now! Love the ideas!!
iluvmysweetiepies replied: LOL I think we should print this thread out and tactfully place it somewhere where our DH's will read it.
GavinsMommy replied: I personally would want this to happen:
*A morning shower without having to worry about the kids
*Breakfast made for me or either go out for a breakfast somewhere
*Take a walk somewhere and just talk
*Have lunch
*Go to a movie
*Go home to a nice relaxing candlelit bubble bath
*Have dinner ready for me when I got finished "dolling up"
*The rest is up to your imagination........but rose petals are good
Oh and the coupons are a GREAT idea. Hubbie did this for me on V-day and they were wonderful! Also, a necklace with two little kids with your children's birthstones are nice...!
guertin31 replied: Golly....
JAYMESMOM replied: I always love when I get a day to myself - a gift certificate for a massage and the nail salon are a great way to relax. Also you could throw in a gift certificate for her favorite restautant and she could meet a friend for lunch.
P.S. when she comes home you could have dinner done also or the house cleaned. Dinner - even if pickup is always nice
Jamison'smama replied: I adore my motherhood necklace--You can find them at most jewelry stores around mother's day in all price ranges--here is an example of a nice one...
Red Envelope Mom's Necklace
That store packages really nicely as well. My DH also gave me a nice book about moms and he wrote a wonderful note in the cover. When my daughter was born, my DH gave me one of the three stone necklaces that is meant to represent the past, present and future but it can also represent a family of 3 and they make those in several styles and price ranges as well. I am a sentimental gal, although I need and crave time alone and help with the kids, I really like something tangible --not expensive to remember the day.
Here is link to the necklace I have (well it is similar) I have the two toned one---
mother and child necklace
Let us know what you decide to do.
ammommy replied: Now, you're just dreaming
CCTandME replied: I love pictures of my girls. For my 1st Mother's Day I wanted a mug w/ our picture on it. That's also what I did for Father's Day. I think he also got me flowers, perfume and the sweetest card. You could also make a calendar w/ some of your favorite pics. I have done the collage thing, too. I went and bought a 16x20 (I think) frame and put some of my favorites on it.
CCTandME replied: sorry, don't know how to add multiple pics to one post
chloe&tysmommy replied: OOOOh I know I would love one!!!
and I would also love a GC to a salon to be pampered
btw, you are so very sweet and thoughtful...my dh (don't mean dear) didn't get me nothin'!
moped replied: Anything with a picture of your child.............a collage, framed. A magnet (order them at walmart) I recently made a DVD music montage with all pics of DH and Jack and he LOVED IT - it was about $50
I love getting pictures of any kind
kimberley replied: i love the coupon idea and have always hoped of getting a family ring or pendant with my birthstone, DH's and the kids'. and take lots of pictures of her and Frankie and just spoil her rotten! maybe a sweet letter or poem telling her what a wonderful mom you think she is would be nice too. or you could even write it "from Frankie".
mummy2girls replied: a family ring? with her yours and sond birthstones on it...
GavinsMommy replied: You are right about that! But I never shower...it is non-existant. I haven't showered since I got pregnant
Yes...I am kidding. LOL
