Monica - any word?
C&K*s Mommie wrote: Any word yet on the whereabouts of Bogie?
luvmykids replied: I was just about to update ..... guess who just showed up at the back door barking? That little sucker, I cannot for the life of me figure out how he got out but apparantly he knows also how to get back in!!
He must have partied all night because he's totally crashed out, I can't get him to open an eye for anything
And now I don't know what to do with him, I've got to see if he can go live with DH at the job site or something because he can't stay inside when I'm gone
C&K*s Mommie replied: dogs are clever.
How wonderful that he showed up finally.
Is he crate trained?
Hopefully, you will be able to pinpoint how he got out and back in, before sending him to your hubby.
redchief replied: My guess his absence was a bit more base. I bet there was a female in heat in the neighborhood. I'm glad he's home.
luvmykids replied:
Does that affect them, even after they're neutered?
I'm thinking his being cooped up in a yard and missing DH have something to do with his recent behaviors, I feel like I have a rebellious teenager on my hands I gave him the lecture, you know, "I was up all night worrying, I had no idea if you were dead or alive or hurt on the side of the road. No, I don't want to hear any excuses and I don't really care what everyone else was doing. If they jumped off a cliff would you?"
gr33n3y3z replied: I'm glad he is back
redchief replied: They can still smell a female in heat, though it doesn't have the urgent reproductive effects that it has in an animal that isn't neutered. The answer to the question should be that it would not cause him to feel the need to investigate, but I'm not entirely sure he wouldn't just want to check it out.
Perhaps our in-house vet-tech would better be able to answer that one.
Maybe he just got a little case of wanderlust?
Jackie012007 replied: did he have wanderlust before? My experience with neutering a the shelter is that it doesn't correct behavior like that, it really just takes the frustration out, cuts down on territorial markings, and produces a calmer personality....sometimes. It depends on the dog, really... and the ageof neutering, if the neutering was done correctly, etc. My dog is 8 years old and from what I understand, was neutered at a young age... and yes he goes after females, but not in that LET'S GET FREAKY kinda way. More out of curiousity.
What breed is he? That makes a difference too... HTH!
CantWait replied: Let's put it this way (in my words since I know Ed already answered). When a guy gets sniped, do they want it any less??
Glad he's back home.
kimberley replied: i am glad he is home! naughty boy lol. hope you figure a way to keep him in.
flirtycuddle replied: Don't feel bad about not knowintg how he got out. You would be amazed at what dogs will do when they get an idea in their head. Our german shephard used to jump off our second story patio and then end up 6 miles away at df's parents. The first time we came home and started flipping out cuz we thought matience let the dog out but nope his parents called us an hour later(we were calling the pounds) asking if we were missing something. They thought we had brought him with and just left him there without telling them cuz about 20 mins after we left their house he was at the door barking to come in. Oh yea they lived across a major freeway in Vegas also but he managed to find a tunnel underneath. Lets just say we never left the arcida open for him again.
luvmykids replied: not necessarily, but he's always been a country dog with plenty of room to go on missions LOL we went from 15 acres to a city yard, I think he's desparately bored.
He's a lab btwn 2-3 years old and was neutered around 8 mos.
ashtonsmama replied: I didn't know he was gone, obviously, but I'm so glad to hear he made it home!
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Good boy Bogie coming home! I hope you get things figured out so he doesn't get away again, it may be the moving to a smaller yard that is driving him nuts
MyLuvBugs replied: If anything they want it more LOL
I'm glad he finally showed up Monica. Sounds like he's got some anxiety about your DH being gone all day. Poor boy. Just glad that he's back.
7thHeaven replied: Glad to hear he made it back home safely. The smaller of our two Boxers, crawled out from under the chain link kennel we have. We couldn't figure out how she had gotten out, so my DH put her back...and sure enough as soon as she got back in she went to the spot where she had gotten out at and attempted it again.
My DH was mowing the lawn that day and he was like when he saw her just sitting there, watching him ride around in circles on the lawn mower! He let her sit there a few minutes, thinking I had let her out & would be coming to get her soon and when he didn't see me, he went to put here back and that's when I something from the corner of my eye out the window...it was him chasing Sunni (our dog) all around the yard! It was priceless! Gotta love those furbabies!
