Mommy walking is hard!!
Schnoogly wrote: Iain is trying so hard to walk! He took his first steps the night before his birthday and has been trying so hard for the last month. He can take a couple of steps but his balance is really bad and he always falls down. Just now he took 4 steps to me, fell on his knees and put his head in my lap as if to say "mommy walking is hard!!" It's very cute. But I really want him to get it soon because he's so frustrated he gets mad so easily. Anyone else's toddler take months to figure it out after their first steps? He walks all over holding my hand or holding onto something but just can't go more than 2-4 steps without falling flat on his face, poor baby!
~CrazieMama~ replied: I believe it was a month or ywo when Brianna was confident enough to walk on her own. She fell so many times, I was afraid she was gonna have brain damage or something. But all is fine and now she runs around like she has walked right after birth.
Kaitlin'smom replied: aww poor thing. Well for Kaitlin she took 3 steps to m eone day and then did not really start trying till about two weeks before christmas and just kept trying sometimes she would give up and go back to crawling but now about a month later she walkes everwere! She is getting so good and does not fall as often. So about a month for her.
He will get it....just keep trying Iain!
coasterqueen replied: I don't remember how long it took Kylie, but I do know what helped "encourage" her to finally walk ;-) We had a walker our friends bought her but she kept falling down with it, it would tip over and it moved to fast, etc. So we bought Kylie one of those Fisher Price push walkers. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...s=toys&n=599780
She immediately would get up, push it and eventually got brave enough to walk with out it.
Guest replied: Yay Iain! I can remember that it took a while for Daniel to get his bearings to where he was really walking. He spent a lot of time doing the three to four steps and fall down approach. Then it will be six or seven steps, etc. It's so great to reach this milestone!
DansMom replied: Oh, that was me above. I thought I was logged in.
Boogarbearzmom's post reminds me that Daniel really got his bearings by using a push-walker. He had a Little Red Walker Wagon http://www.toys-review.com/Little_Red_Walk...B000067QIP.html and absolutely loved the support it gave him. Perfect height for him. I think it lowered his frustration to be able to ambulate on his own with the walker wagon.
ediep replied: yup, it took Jason a looooooooong time to figure it out.I wasn't really suprised because he was a late crawler, so I figured he would be a late walker. He walked for months with push toys and he cruised for a long time. He was afraid to let go of things! Well, now he is really walking like a pro and improving every day!!
maestra replied: Jaci still doesn't walk unasisted, but I'm sure she'll get it soon! Don't worry, he'll get it!
Schnoogly replied: Yeah we have one of those walky things, so does his babysitter. He's been walking with it since he was 10 months old. I know I'll long for the days I could actually chase him down. It's hard enough to change his diaper as it is!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Claudia is 16mths and just took her first steps on New Years Day. She is still very unbalanced when she walks and only walks about 5 or 6 steps before she falls. I am hoping that it will be any day now before she is really taking off!
MommyToAshley replied: WTG Iain! It sounds like it won't be much longer and he will be running around your house. And, you are right, you will wonder why you wished for it! LOL!
Keep it up Iain! You're almost there!
CantWait replied: Poor baby I hope he's walking really soon. Keep us updated. I'm sure you will
kimberley replied: awww poor Iain! hope he gets the hang of it soon!
A&A'smommy replied: awww poor baby!! He will get it though!!! ((((HUGS))) for you both!!!
