Mommy Brag Anthony Brag
CantWait wrote: Finally after months of wondering and worrying if Anthony will ever learn his numbers, letters etc without going to preschool and being home with ME, we're making some progress.
He recognizes and can write on his own without me showing him most of his letters, and he spelled by sounding out the letters the words dog, cat, dad, rob, & bat.
I'm so proud of him. The best thing about it, he's loving it, and he comes up to me with his pen and paper wanting to learn it.
Just had to brag that I CAN actually teach him this stuff, and HE can actually learn it from me.
ETA: Any other easy 2, 3, or 4 letter words we can spell? I ran out of ideas lol.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: awesome!!! kudos to you mom!! and way to go big boy for being soo smart!!
I love how one day we wake up and they know these things. same kind of thing happened here, alex knows how to write his name and i didnt even know he could!he also saw the word ant and wrote it!!

My3LilMonkeys replied: WTG Anthony and WTG mommy!!!!
Get some Dr. Suess books like Go Dog Go, Green Eggs and Ham - they have lots of great words!
MommyToAshley replied: Wow... that is awesome! He is doing really great, Marie! And so are you. I think the most important thing is to make learning fun so that he wants to learn and enjoys it... and it sounds like you've done just that!!
Ashley liked to do word groups (words that rhyme). For example, after she spelled cat, it was easy to spell rat, sat, hat, etc.
Also, I don't know if you said he could do this or not, but I would just make sure that he can spell his name. They really work on this in preschool.
Keep it up, he's doing great!!!!
