Mixing cereal with veggies & fruit

Mommy2BAK wrote: Ok are you supposed to mix the baby food with cereal? I haven't been and someone asked me the other day why I don't do that. I had no idea.

aspenblue1 replied: You can mix the baby food (fruits) or juice with the cereal. I used to mix applesauce wtih Isabella's cereal

amynicole21 replied: I never did... I suppose you could get some extra iron into the baby that way, but Sophia never really wanted cereal once we moved on to jarred baby food. rolleyes.gif

MomToMany replied: thumb.gif I do it all the time! You don't HAVE to, but it adds a little flavor to the cereal.

AndriNPetersdada replied: I'll be starting my son on solids pretty soon and i've never be told to do so Like the others say I'm sure its full of iron and gives the cereal a better taste I just never did it. I went straight from cereal to regular baby food.

A&A'smommy replied: you can mix it with formula, nursery water, baby juice or baby food! You do whichever you want and whichever she likes

ediep replied: yes, we did. You can mix baby food with cereal if your baby likes it

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Ethan loved his food with cereal mixed in. It was a lot thicker and he ate it so much better. thumb.gif It certainly won't hurt her. happy.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: Alright, thanks everyone! I may try it but I doubt Blakely would like it that much

chloe&tysmommy replied: yup we do this too. Ty really could care less for his cereal until I started adding baby fruit with it....now he loves it happy.gif

Jamison'smama replied: I did it all the time as well--oatmeal with fruits and rice with veggies.

AislinnsMom replied: My daughter goes to daycare, and when I gave them permission to give her solids, that was the way they did it. They mixed everything with cereal, every meal. I didn't do that very much at home, since I thought it sounded gross. And Aislinn didn't like cereal by itself much at all. I usually substitute yogurt for cereal, and have since she was about 7 months old. She gets iron-fortified formula anyway, so I'm not very worried about her iron intake.
