Miss Ally (sigh)

PrairieMom wrote: Well, my sweet little baby had her well baby visit the other day, and at 9 months weighs all of 15 pounds. she is in the 7th percentile. If she keeps this up she will drop right off the chart next time. dry.gif She's strong and healthy tho, and is meeting her milestones, so I'm not worried about it.

She has decided that she is to "cool" for baby food now tho. dry.gif She only wants what the rest of the family is eating. The little stinker doesn't have a single tooth yet tho, so I have some reservations about giving her some table food.

She is LOVING puffs and cheerios, gold fish and that kind of stuff, but to get anything but bread products in her is a challenge. She actually had ritz crackers with sweet potatoes on for dinner last night. laugh.gif
I have tried giving her mac and cheese, and spaghettios, but she wouldn't take more than a bite of those. apparently they weren't as good as she thought it was going to be. laugh.gif Little stinker.

Oh well. I guess this is just another challenge for us! cool.gif

lovemy2 replied: She will probably be fine - Olivia at almost 5 years old is only 34 lbs - Ally is almost half way there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rolling_smile.gif

PrairieMom replied:
My son Ben weight all of 32 pounds. at nearly 4. laugh.gif we just aren't that big of people. He is actually wearing 2 T clothes for the 2nd year in a row, and is wearing them out! not growing out of them. laugh.gif My kids will be in car seats until they go to prom. dry.gif laugh.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: So will Logan. And he'll probably have to take a booster seat with him to college. LOL laugh.gif

lovemy2 replied: I thought for sure Olivia would ride backwards in an infant carrier on the bus to Kindergarten!!!!!!!! rolling_smile.gif

amymom replied: I always said if it were not for the kids on the low end of the scale the kids in the middle would be at the bottom! emlaugh.gif if that makes sense to you..... unsure.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: You guys make me feel like I have a gigantasaurus for a child. laugh.gif Tanner weighs 52 pounds at 4 1/2. ohmy.gif He's just solid. He'll make his daddy proud some day and play football (if he wants wink.gif ).

Tara, a gal at my church has a 6 month old and her daughter isn't even on the charts she's so tiny. Cute little peanut too! She hits each milestone and is very proportioned though. Doc said not to worry. I don't know why they use that dang percentile scale if it doesn't mean much! dry.gif unsure.gif All it does is give people a complex about their children! laugh.gif

CantWait replied: I swear if I ever have another kid, I'm going to tell the doc not to even bother looking at the percentile. dry.gif

hoosier momma replied: My son seems huge too. John Robert is 13 months and weighs right around 30 lbs. His daddy is a pretty big guy though. On the table food issue, have you tried to chop it up for her. I have a little $10 electric chopper that will chop the table food from a solid to a fine puree. This is what I used when John Robert got to the contrary stage of only wanting to eat what we were eating. He got the better tasting stuff but at the consistency that was good for him with only two teeth.

Our Lil' Family replied: Yeah, I'm prepared for Thomas's 2 year visit at the end of the month...he won't make the chart I'm sure. But he's short so like his ped says, he shouldn't be heavy!

PrairieMom replied:

PrairieMom replied:
I haven't chopped things up for her, but I have cut them into itty bitty pieces, but she doesn't seem that into it once the food actually becomes "hers" ya know? its super awesome when it comes from MY plate. dry.gif She seems pretty sensitive to textures. She won't eat banana hunks, I think they are to slimy for her, probably why she won't eat macaroni or spaghetti -o's either.
I got some cereal bars and some fruit cocktail today at the store and I will try that.

hoosier momma replied: I know what you mean about it coming from your plate. After I decided to do the whole chopper thing, I learned really quick that it wasn't just about eating the table food it was about eating my food. LOL. So, I would just put his food on my plate and then feed him from that. I still have to sometimes. John Robert also has a thing for textures. He still won't have anything to do with a regular banana or most fruits. I probably shouldn't but I still use the #3 fruits for him.

gr33n3y3z replied: my kids ped never really followed that percentile stuff bc no one could ever determin what was adverage lol

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Sears has a policy that if the kids wear out the clothes before outgrowing them, they will replace them free. laugh.gif

holley79 replied: Well Annika is 14 month (tomorrow) and is only 21 pounds. She is a stinker when it comes to eating also. I think she is going to be a junk foodaholic wacko.gif I was hoping I could establish good eating habits in her.

A&A'smommy replied: oh goodness its good that she wants to eat though. Alyssa rarely wants to eat even when she was Allys age!! hug.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Sounds like she is doing really well. My new motto is "I don't care what he eats" ..."I dont care what he weighs" as of his appt. last week he is off teh charts by 4 pounds.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Wanna know something funny..Tanner used to be like that. He was below the charts with growth... He was tiny. One of my best friends thought something was wrong with him..she worked for a Wal Mart vendor..and she brought him 15 cases of Pedia Sure..and was trying to make it sound like surplus..lol She confessed later she was scared he was too small.. Now look at the kid.

She will grow ...they all do. I hope she finds what she likes to eat and eats you out of house and home!

redplaydoh replied: I wouldn't worry about the percentiles... I have one on the upper end of it (almost off the chart) and one toward the lower end of it. These are just guidelines.... as long as your child is growing and healthy I wouldn't give it more than a thought.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: She sounds like she is doing really well Tara!!! As you know, Wesley won't eat ANY solids. Not even rice cereal, so don't feel bad she's not into some foods. He's almost 18 lbs though, so luckily my milk has stayed up with him. But you know, all kiddos are different.

coasterqueen replied:
only! Megan is roughly 20 to 21 pounds now and will be 2 in 2 weeks. wacko.gif I pray the doc tells me she's gained because she hasn't over the past year. rolleyes.gif

PrairieMom replied:
Ben stayed 32 pounds for over a year. He is going to be 4 in a few months and FINALLY weights a whopping 34 pounds. Just think of all the $ we are saving not buying new clothes all the time! laugh.gif Poor Ally is still in 3-6 months stuff! laugh.gif

coasterqueen replied:
True, but Megan has actually cost me more money in clothes. tongue.gif I was supposed to use all of Kylie's clothes for her, but nooooo Megan couldn't be chunky like her sister so we've barely used any of Kylie's clothes. rolleyes.gif happy.gif She is, however, staying in the same size for a long time that it's not too bad of an expense.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Ethan (will be 3 on March 5) weighs only 25 pounds and has for a year. ohmy.gif He won't make the charts this time, either. He still wears a 18m-2T as well. It's easy on the budget, huh? laugh.gif
