Mislead By a Finacial Company
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: I fell for a scam by Mutual Consolidated Savings. They promise to reduce your intrest rates on your mortgage, loans and credit cards. I paid about $740.00 Canadian, which was there fee of $600.00 in US funds. I've never been so humiliated in my life. I spoke with my credit card company and they told me that there was nothing I could do, since I had opened the package that they sent and gave them the security numbers on the back of my credit cards. This company won't stop calling me. I finally looked them up on the Better Business Bureau and the info is not good. I'm so mad at myself for falling for this. But there is nothing that I can do to get my money back. I'll just have to pay it off. I was advised not to contact them again, but I called the company to see what could be done and I have a phone apt. next Friday to speak with them. I've never done anything like this before, I'm always catious and continue to say no or hang up. The sad thing about all of this is I actually thought it was my credit card company calling. They had my credit card number, the balance on my credit card. I'm not excusing what happened, I know it was my own fault. Guess this is just another learning experience.
lisar replied: On no. I am sorry that happened to you.
MoonMama replied: Oh man! I'm really sorry hun.
DVFlyer replied: I don't know about them. What did they do or not do?
Kirstenmumof3 replied: They haven't done anything but take the money from me. My intrest rates have not been reduced at all.
luvmykids replied: That really stinks! I hope you reported them.
DVFlyer replied: If you have a contract, I'm assuming there will be something specific in there about what their responsibilities are.
Go get em!
TLCDad replied: I dunno about the laws in Canada, but you should be able to report it as fraud to your credit card company and insist that they issue a charge back. If they refused definitely make sure to tell them you will be changing credit card companies. It almost sounds like it is the credit card company because they should of offered the charge back option to you right away.
If it is not the credit card company promoting the scam then it is still an issue with them because at least here in the states credit card balance info is private information unless you specifically allow it for credit checkup for a home loan etc and even then they ask you to provide the statements.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks everyone! I looked this company up on the Better Business Bureau and this company is not accredited by the BBB. They didn't have anything nice to say about them. The company used high pressure sales tactics to make the consumer feel that the nature of there call was urgent, difficulty in cancelling the service and receiving promised refunds. I paid $600.00 in US funds wich was 740.00 in Canadian funds. But in most of the complaints of this nature the company offered a partial settlement.
Rod, I was thinking the same thing about how they could possibly get my account balances without my permission. I just don't understand any of this. But I plan to call my credit card company in the morning.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I hope you can get something back. I was called by one who said they work with the cc companies to lower rates I told them I woudl look into there company before I decide anything....they have never called back. It sounded to good to be true and I suspect I am right.
Calimama replied: I hope you get some answers. That's horrible!
jacobsmama replied: That is terrible..I would be arguing majorly with someone!
