Minimum Wage????

lisar wrote: Okay I know we all live in diffrent areas and diffrent places have a diffrent minimum wage due to like lets say California is more expensive than Florida to live. So there minimum wage is higher. I was just curious what it was in your area.

Here is Florida I think its like 6 bucks an hour.

Calimama replied: I think Jan 2008 it becomes $8 and I live in CA.

A&A'smommy replied: its 5.15 an hour here and its almost completely impossible to live on that here mad.gif

luvmykids replied:
Same here....in 2008 I think we're supposed to go up to $6, which is still not nearly enough to live on rolleyes.gif

moped replied: I think we are at $10 - but honestly I have no clue

My2Beauties replied: It's $5.85 here, it just went up from $5.15, it's schedule to go up to $6.00 soon, and then about 6 months to a year after that it's going up to $6.15 I believe. Definitely nothing someone can live on, but I'm all about getting an education and bettering yourself, minimum wage jobs are mainly meant for people who are in school (college), elderly (in retirement just wanting a job) and teenagers that just want a couple extra bucks. It's sad that many adults live on this type of income, it's a cycle, they stay in a low paying job because they receive welfare and they're never cut off, there's no incentive for them to do better. I'm all for welfare (believe me, I'm a true democrat) but in cases like this where someone is physically able to work and only wants to make minimum wage because they receive so many benefits from the government, it's sad and frankly p's me off!!

Sorry I'm off my soapbox.gif now! blush.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: you can find any state here wage

in ohio its currently 6.85hr and I think it supposed to go to 7.15 sometime not sure when.

msoulz replied: minimum wages

I found this site as I didn't know ours, but in MI it is apparently $7.15.

LOL, Kaitlin's mom beat me to the punch on the link!! thumb.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: 5.75 here in NJ but no one works for that price here most jobs start here between 7 and 8.00 an hour

MotherForever2043 replied: Here in MA it's 7:50.

Anthony275 replied: i think in 2006 it was raised to $6.50

ok, the site says $7.15 so i dont know

Kentuckychick replied:
Yep, it's $5.85 here right now. It's actually supposed to go up to around $7.15 or so by mid 2009 though (we'll see!). It really isn't a lot, but the cost of living in Kentucky is definitely quite a bit lower than in other states (and higher than others).

My3LilMonkeys replied: Here in PA it's $7.15.

Mommy2Isabella replied: I thought ours was $5.15 BUT I looked at that website to check, and we have no state minimum wage law!!

bawoodsmall replied:
Not everyone has a mimimum wage job because they have 80 kids. I work in an environment where a lot of our employees are min wage but love their job enough to keep it.
6.25 here 7.00 in 2008

gr33n3y3z replied:
I think that is important
Why work for the highest money if you hate the job

ZandersMama replied: its 7.60 an hour here. Nova Scotia. Canada.

and i have to add, im on welfare and working a minimum wage job, because my sons immune system isnt well enough for him to go to daycare so i can go back to school his specialists have said he cant be in a group childcare system until he is at least 2, probably 3. not all people on welfare are using the system. alot have an honest need for it , like me.

Boo&BugsMom replied: $5, and some odd cents

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I believe it's 7.85$ here.

Nina J replied: Here in Australia, it is $13.47 per hour. Australian dollars, in the current exhange rate that is $12.04 US dollars.

My2Beauties replied:
I never ever said that all people on minimum wage with kids are losers, I know some people have reasons that they are on minimum wage. Please no one twist my words around. I simply said I can't stand to hear people complain about raising kids and working for minimum wage, then they have more kids and keep complaining and they even think to go grab their GED or use government funding to go to college to better themselves, that's what irks me. It's people that can help the fact that they work for minimum wage that bother me. If someone likes their job making minimum wage, that's fine too, hopefully they aren't one of the people complaining about the pay then!

coasterqueen replied: MW in IL is $7.50 now. It will be $7.75 Jan 2008.

grapfruit replied:
ITA w/your point of view on this. I see a LOT of people ABUSE the system, which just hurts the people that DO need and benefit from it. Then they put restrictions on the help that makes it harder for people that WANT to benefit from it and work to better themselves. It is there for a reason, but there are certainly those out there that sponge off the gov't. Which is sad. I do see that a lot. wink.gif I know a lot of people I went to school w/that were like this...some of those same people would also steal b/c they thought it was "owed" to them or, how did she put it "Trying to provide for my baby"...Didn't know your baby needed a Tweety bird pen....Sorry that was a personal (bad!) experience...people stealing by putting items in their kids clothes....

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I thought MW was $6.25 here but checked one of the links and it's actually $6.85 (in Colorado).
