Military Wives - Question

CantWait wrote: When dh is on deployment, do you shovel your driveways and cut your grass, take your car to the mechanic, and do all the other "male" related jobs??

Calimama replied: Yes (well minus the snow stuff) and it STINKS! Although my neighbor saw me pitifully trying to figure out the mower today and jumped over to help. I love that man. wub.gif emlaugh.gif The minute DH leaves, I do everything. sad.gif Oh well, what doesn't kill me makes me stronger!

holley79 replied: Yep yep and yep. Well minus the shoveling snow thing as we don't have that here. emlaugh.gif

mckayleesmom replied: Well dh has never been deployed, but he use to travel alot and I did everything.....Heck...I still do mow the lawn and stuff... laugh.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: well yeah... lol not that dh has been on deployment...

Marie, I hope you don't come back to a house overgrown with weeds and garbage.. lol

CantWait replied:
I'm almost certain the weeds will be overgrown all over the backyard and in the garden sad.gif

It's so refreshing to hear of women that can do stuff for themselves. I swear every woman on facebook is so helpless and can't do stuff for themselves. They're always calling their husband's unit for help and that's not what they're there for mad.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
I agree......dh use to travel for 3 weeks back 2 and so forth...So I had to do most of the yardwork....I think some woman are whiney myself.... laugh.gif I always think its nice for a neighbor to pitch in, but to call your husbands unit is a little bad...

I actually don't mind lawn mowing.....>I have mowed the lawn 9 months pregnant with Russell..... laugh.gif

Calimama replied:
blink.gif blink.gif My DH would flip. I bet those are the same wives who call up there and complain when they guys have late nights at work. dry.gif rolleyes.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
Ya...like the military cares if they are late to dinner... laugh.gif

mckayleesmom replied: How does that famous saying we are always hearing go?

IF THE MILITARY WANTED YOU TO HAVE A WIFE, THEY WOULD HAVE ISSUED YOU ONE.....

in other words...What wife?? dry.gif

Calimama replied:
Exactly. Hello!? An extra hour of desert training or home to watch the 6 o'clock news? rolleyes.gif rolling_smile.gif

luvmykids replied: We aren't military so I hope I'm not butting in laugh.gif But yes, when DH is gone I do all that stuff, except shovel snow..I cheat and use ice melt. And I don't like to mow b/c we have rocky ground so I guess I cheat there a little too, because I just let a horse out to graze on it rolling_smile.gif

Calimama replied:
Can I borrow a horse? A small one.. my back yard is tiny.. rolling_smile.gif

Oh and I'll return him in like 2 3/4 months.. rolling_smile.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
Hey.....if you are getting the job done its not cheating... rolling_smile.gif

lovemy2 replied:
Yes but you feed that horse and in my mind I think that is tougher than mowing the lawn -

And I am not military either but sometimes I have to do those things and DH is here watching laugh.gif Actually I LIKE to mow the lawn - shoveling not so much but definately yard work......I just have to find some kind of cage for Dylan this summer so I can actually do things outside without having to go look for him three streets away - hmmm I wonder if the collar for Maxi's invisible fence would work emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

Kidding of course biggrin.gif

lisar replied: My dh isnt in the military but I mow the grass. I love my lawn mower so I mow and its alot of grass.
