Might not get that house after all
luvmykids wrote: It has a restriction on it that you can only have 2 horses, even though it's 10 acres. Turns out it's a pretty common restriction around there because people don't want it to start looking "junky, you know, trailers, barns, junk everywhere" (Thats a direct quote btw)
Soooo... If I'm going to bring the horses I need to be able to bring at least 3, preferably 4. There is a chance of getting the other people who actually drafted the convenants to change them but I don't really have that kind of time. I guess I'm going to have to cave and get a realtor and officially start the house hunt. Shouldn't have thought it would be so easy
mckayleesmom replied: I hope they change it.....Geesh...you would think that since you are buying the house...that you would get to make the limit on how many horses you can have.
BAC'sMom replied: Good luck I know you will figure something out.
luvbug00 replied: Oh come on. they can't assume everyone is like that. My aunt has 3 horses and she keeps thing realy tidy.
mom2my2cuties replied: I know in this area - it isn't only the amount of equipment that is required for horses, it is also the smell. There is a big problem here and people don't clean up after thier animals even the household kind. *mumbles something about the dog poo in my new flower garden*
I hope that you can get if figured out. I would love to have horses and actually might once we get our house built.
moped replied: It was gorgeous...but the right will come along.
coasterqueen replied: That house was beautiful. I didn't post to your other thread, but I actually LOVED the metal roof. They are so low maintenance and becoming pretty popular, around here at least.
I'm sorry they have that stipulation. Weird because you think of stipulations moreso in subdivisions not in big properties.
I hope you find something soon.
luvmykids replied: Thanks
I guess it is a subdivision, I just didn't realize it because it's a "country" subdivision and to me 10 acres is not a "lot"
It's very much a resort town so I understand that they want to keep the property values up, and I know all the stereotypes about horse properties=trashy but it's just not necessarily true. What's a girl with horses to do?
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, our country subdivisions have those stips too. that's why I swore I'd never live in one. No one is gonna tell me what I can do on my property. Although we have a natural waterway running on our property so we have to answer to the DONR of our state.
Well I hope you find one you like that you can bring all your horses with you.
luvmykids replied: I guess I didn't realize what a "trend" it is becoming to have more than a few acres, especially in a resort town that is 95% vacation/second homes. I didn't even know they had subdivisions in the country, I've mostly lived in rural areas simply for the fact that I thought you didn't have to deal with subdivision junk Ridiculous that people who live there 2 weeks out of the year get to make the rules
C&K*s Mommie replied: What do you do with your horses now? Are they at a seperate farm?
The perfect house for you guys will come along soon. Wish you well in that hunt for it.
luvmykids replied: We have the race horses at a farm about 3 hours away, which is ok because it's where the trainer is, but our saddle horses are at FIL's. We could technically live with only having 2, or none at all, but the kids and I really want to start rodeo again and we need to be able to ride a lot more than we can if they're still at FIL's.
There isn't a lot for sale in that area, especially if you aren't a millionaire. Maybe I'll see if anyone wants to trade for a red paper clip
MommyToAshley replied: I am so sorry. I saw the other post you made, but wasn't able to respond at the time I read it. The view was breathtaking. Why can't we get everything we want in a home? Why do we have to sacrifice one thing for another benefit?
Bee_Kay replied: That really bites
Hopefully you will find one just as nice, if not nicer. Good luck Monica!
