Might be getting a dog - link included, check her out
Boo&BugsMom wrote: For YEARS Troy has been bugging me to get a dog. As of recently I finally caved. Being someone is usually home during the day and evenings, Aiden is not a baby anymore, and I don't have a daycare anymore either...I figure the time is right for one. BUT, for the right dog. I don't want to get a dog just for the sake of having a dog. I in a sense want the dog to find us, know what I mean?
Well, today things seem to be happening that way and all the signs seem to be pointing in the right direction, so far. Meet Lucy, a 1 year old Puggle. We are going to see her on Sunday. We will see what happens. If it's meant to be, Sunday night we will be coming home with a dog.

stella6979 replied: Awwww....I love her!!! I hope it works out for you guys.
DVFlyer replied: Cute.
Be sure to find out as much as you can about why she's a rescue. If there are no red flags, read until your eyes are burning at this site:

Have fun.
mckayleesmom replied: Awww..she is really cute. I hope she works out.
Boo&BugsMom replied: We are actually meeting the "current/past owner" as well as the rescue shelter. They have a 7 day "return policy" as well which is nice. I will not get a dog that needs discipline classes.
lisar replied: she is adorable
Calimama replied: That's awesome that she's a rescue! She's too cute!
TheOaf66 replied: not even really a rescue
The owner got her as a gift and just doesn't have the time for her because she is gone a lot...I think it is great that she would want Lucy to be with a family that can put in the time and not just keep her crated up.
FYI. It was my idea for a dog but Jennie wants one WAY more than she is letting on.
Boo&BugsMom replied: She is from a rescue, it's just that they do it as a foster care instead of a shelter.
And I never said I didn't want one, I just didn't want to bend over backwards for one.
DVFlyer replied: Then please rethink getting a dog.
Every dog needs discipline.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Obedience classes are more for the owner than the dog I, too, HIGHLY recommend them. Maybe Troy is all about going. My husband never takes the dogs to class, I do! ETA: DVFlyer's point is very well taken, though. Be sure you are both on the same page with the time & commitment even a great dog takes. It's not minimal work. Lucy has already been the victim of one person's lack of time/commitment. It would be great if wherever she lands is her final home!
We got Parker from a shelter and he's a great dog. Found him on Petfinders, as a matter of fact. He's a lab/beagle. If we were marketing him as a "designer dog, we'd call him a Legal!!
That puggle is darling!!! He'd be going home with me in a heartbeat!
kit_kats_mom replied: or a blab. LOL
ITA about the time commitment and the classes. Rocky has done GREAT in his puppy kindergarten but we spend an hour every night at the local dog park instead of running errands. If we don't the dog is INSANE!! After a nice romp at the park, he's down for the night but I was sick yesterday and didn't take him so we were all up at least 6 times during the night with him.
Crystalina replied: I've always wanted a really bad dog so that I could have a reason to call Cesar Milan. He's so cute.
CantWait replied: Omgosh, she's adorable. Hope things work out.

Crystalina replied: Ok, by that I take it you don't agree?
Boo&BugsMom replied: I never said a dog didn't need discipline. Reread my post!!! You are misquoting me and twisting my words. I've had many dogs in my life, and none have needed special classes. I have enough common sense to know how to discipline a dog myself without needing a special class!
And yes, being around dogs and taking care of them my entire life, I know that dogs are a commitement. As much as I appreciate advice when it's needed, I also didn't ask for it. I'm not looking for unsolicited advice, only rejoicing in the fact that we might have our first family dog soon.
A&A'smommy replied: awwwwww she is SOO cute!!!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Is Cesar Milan that do whisperer guy? I don't think I've ever seen a show of his, but I remember seeing him on some talk show.
Thanks everyone. We will see what happens on Sunday. So far everything we know about her is great. I've always loved puggles, and I myself always grew up with beagle-mixes.
sparkys2boys replied: Hmm Jennie.. is this the sucking up, begging you to get a dog that he does at home too???
I can almost hear him saying.. please please please can we get one
Boo&BugsMom replied: He doesn't necessarily "beg", but he does the subtle hinting of it ALL THE TIME!!! He throws me many emails every day from work from Petfinder as well. And he also has been whining about how "he'll never get a dog". Troy's mom never let him have a dog growing up, it's like he has to make up for lost time.
sparkys2boys replied: Yup, I was right
Seriously, I hope it works out for you!! The right dog does wonders for a family! I would never give our little guy back for anything in the world after having him for a little over a month! GL
Boo&BugsMom replied: Thanks. That is what I'm looking for...the dog that is right for our family. I don't want to just get any dog for the sake of having a dog. I want it to be the dog that we are meant to have. Not to mention, both the boys (Tanner and Aiden) are HUGE animal lovers, and so am I. If we lived on a lot more land we'd probably have a small farm.
TheOaf66 replied: there we go posting me in a bad light again
1. She emails me posting from pet finder as well 2. I had A dog growing up...my mom is just not a dog person
Do we have to send you to special classes for giving 1/2 truths and making your DH look bad hmmmmmm
sparkys2boys replied: LOL... now now play nice Troy!!! Ahhhh I can hear it now, the pitter patter of lil doggy feet on the way out to use the bathroom at 3 am in the winter and Troy saying.. thanks for the doggy Jennie!!!
stella6979 replied: Do the boys know you plan on getting a dog, or will it be surprise?
Boo&BugsMom replied: Aiden doesn't have a clue given his age, but we showed him a pic of the dog and he says "puppy"? Tanner knows and is excited about seeing her. We want it to be a family decision since Tanner will have some responsibilities with it as he gets older.
Crystalina replied: Yes, Cesar is the Dog Whisperer. He's the cutest little guy and I can just listen to him talk all day. My favorite part is when he acts like the dogs.

DVFlyer replied:
Misquoting would have entailed "not" quoting exactly what you said. I did not alter what you said.
"Twisting" your words is a stretch. Misunderstood what you meant... maybe.
But since you mentioned misquoting.... I never suggested "special classes". I suggested reading information at a website.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Looks like quoting to me. Regardless if you "technically" misquoted/twisted, etc. you still no what I mean!
And by the way, saying what I said, I was not commenting on the site you sent me, only making a point.
Boo&BugsMom replied: By the way, Lucy came home with us last night.
stella6979 replied: Awwww....that's so awesome Jennie! She's lucky to have such a great home.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Thanks. So far she is doing really well. Our cats hate us at the moment though. They did venture up from the basement today though, which is a step in the right direction. Lucy had one accident so far, but that's to be expected. She is wanting a lot of attention, follows me everywhere. She slept in our bed all last night.
Calimama replied: Congratulations!!!!
