Megan's adenoid surgery is this Friday - and I hate the darn scale!
coasterqueen wrote: Megan had her pre-op appointment today for her surgery this Friday. I'm getting more nervous about the surgery this Friday as we get closer to it. I know it's a simple procedure, but still.
I hate the scale because Megan lost 2 more pounds! That's 3 pounds in 1.5 months. Dh and I were shocked because we thought she was eating more and looked like she was gaining. ARGGHHHHHH!!!!! The doc isn't concerned again at this point, but still monitor it. She's like in the 10th percentile now.
Wish us luck this Friday. They tell us it's about a 7 day recovery.?.?? So the procedure is on Friday and I'm taking off Friday, Monday and Tuesday. So that's 5 days. If I need to take off more I will.
A&A'smommy replied: She will be fine and feel back to normal probably quicker than 7 days since its just her adenoids but it more than likely does take that long for it to heal!!! KUP
Boys r us replied: I think we all get nervous when our littles ones have surgery, not matter how minor! Tanner just had his out this fall and his doctor said he would write him a note to miss ONE day of school for recovery if he wanted, but Tanner ended up wanting to go to school the day after surgery. So when I tell ya the recovery really is no big deal..it really isn't! This is a piece of cake!
coasterqueen replied: The doc said she might be cranky and it might hurt some just because she'll want to suck on her thumb (which she does 24/7) and that action of sucking might make it hurt more. So I think the healing process will go quickly, but the crankiness....I'm not sure.
lisar replied: She will be fine. I promise. If you need to talk you can always PM me. I have been thru it with Lexi. The adnoids and tubes and all that non fun stuff. And the recovery at 7 days. Ya right. They bounce back ALOT quicker than that. Lexi was 99% normal the next day. So I am sure it will be quicker than 7 days.
coasterqueen replied: Maybe I should send her to daycare next Monday and Tuesday and then I'll stay home and recover.
mummy2girls replied: jenna had her adenoids and tonisls out. for her it took 10 days for her to recover. it depends on teh child...
boyohboyohboy replied: karen, has she gotten any taller by chance? that happened with jake, we thought he was doing so good then all of a sudden a big drop and here we hadnt been measuring him, but noticed he was looking tiny to us, and he had really grown in length. he is in the 98% now for height so even though he was eating, he was growing... i hope that after her surgery her weight picks up again.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I'm sure she'll be fine! I'm sorry about the weight loss - that must be frustrating.

coasterqueen replied: I thought of that Stacy, but nope she hasn't gotten any taller.
sparkys2boys replied: Wanted to offer some Things will go great, try not to worry yourself sick mom. KUP on how she is doing!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Hope everything goes well.
amynicole21 replied: Oh wow, that sounds like a long recovery time. I don't think it will be that bad - they are just giving you the worst case scenario. Still, you are all in my thoughts. Hang in there Megan!
bawoodsmall replied: Aiden just had tubes and adnoids 2 days before christmas. He really was fine which I was shocked because he is very dramatic. She will be ok. Give her lots of love and hugs.
redchief replied: I know you're really nervous about the surgery... that's only natural. I think, however, that you'll be pleasantly surprised by an increase in appetite once those adenoids are gone and she's healed. I'll keep her and you all in my thoughts and prayers.
coasterqueen replied: I hope your right, Ed. Otherwise my little peanut is going to continue to lose weight. The doctor is very confident that many problems she's having will be solved with the surgery so my fingers are crossed!
Thanks everyone for your support. Just the thought of my baby being put under is scary, but I know she'll be in good hands.
gr33n3y3z replied: She will be in my thoughts and prayers hun I know she will be just fine keep us up dated
jcc64 replied: I'll be thinking of you hon! She'll be fine- we'd all be scared by thought of our little babies going under anesthetic, but trust me, they wouldn't attempt a surgery like this if they didn't think she could sail through it. About the weight loss, Corey loses weight all the time. Not consistently, but she vascillates between 36-38 lbs all the time, has done so for well over a year now. Her shoe size hasn't gone up in over 18 months. Some kids are just small. It's ok, take your cues more from her energy level. Big hugs, Karen.
