May he rest in peace - we had to put Bailey down tonight
mom21kid2dogs wrote:  Poor Bailey! He's been getting progressively worse with his seizure disorder. Tonight, he had 4 seizures in 30 minutes and couldn't recover from them. We called the vet and she came right over and put him down for us. Thankfully, Olivia fell asleep after the first seizure so she missed the worst of it. We decided to keep him home tonight so he wouldn't just be gone when Olivia woke up. The funeral home is going to come get him in the morning. Olivia's been putting notes in his blanket and little momentos on him. She put his collar under her pillow. Overall, though, she's doing great (better than us at this point!). He was only 23 months old, darn it!
Here's a picture of him I took on Labor Day. He was a handsome big boy!

kayla's mama replied: I'm sorry that you had to put your little man down. I know how tough that was. We put our Miss Molly down Sept. She was also having seizures really bad like your Bailey. That is so sweet what your little girl did. I'm here for you if you need to talk or a shoulder to cry on.
b&bsmom replied: When we put down our first cat I had talked to Brittany about it and at night we decided to call Mikey ( our cat) to come and chase the bad dreams away for her. I told her he lays on a cloud above her room and makes sure no bad dreams come. Since then we have had another cat pass and so now she calls both of them. It has been over a year since the first one and she still calls them every night. Hugs to all. Hope this helps.

jcc64 replied: Im so very sorry for the loss of Bailey. My mom is still reeling from putting her 11 yo golden retriever down as well. Our pets become an integral part of our families, and their loss can have a profound effect on everyone. When my oldest cat died, my ds, who is normally a very reserved child and does not display emotion easily, was completely hysterical. He gathered the residual fur from his blanket, put it in a baggy, and walked around with it in his pocket for weeks. It's wrenching to watch, but it is a good way for kids to understand that loss is part of love. I think they do a better job internalizing that than we do sometimes. Again, I'm sorry.
C&K*s Mommie replied: CONDOLENCES to your family on the loss of your young pet. But I am happy that your daughter is understanding, and 'sent him off' with messages of goodwill and memories.

3_call_me_mama replied: HUGS! Your family is in my htoughts and prayers. So sorry to hear about Bailey
