Max and Ruby - anyone else find alot of bad teaching ?

mckayleesmom wrote: The other day I was watching an episode where the two little boys...Max and Morris were in the sand box and Ruby and Louise decided that they wanted to have a Beach party....They kept kicking the little boys out of the sand and trying to find other things to bribe them with to keep them out of the sandbox......All the poor little boys wanted to do was play with their dumptruck in the sand.

I think that sent a bad message....Im constantly telling Mckaylee that she is not allowed to do stuff like that...she has to wait her turn. She always trys to "trade" Russell. Then here comes Max and Ruby and this bad behavior in my opinion. growl.gif

This show reminds me of the Elmo we watched once where Elmo colored all over the walls with Crayon and Mckaylee thought she should too. dry.gif

Also....where are the parents? One episode Ruby is babysitting Max, taking him shopping for new overalls and reading fashion magazines and in the next episode she is playing with dolls... blink.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I have yet to ever see parents excpet in a picture on the wall in there living room. I do see the grandma on occasion. As well as the bunny scout leader.

Its a strange show, Kait likes it but I dont.

luvbug00 replied: i think i've been threw this conversation before and I veaugly remeber ruby supposed to be like 7 and max is 3 I think. Yeah it's a cute show happy.gif but the lessons are not to be followed dry.gif

luvmykids replied:
Thats the question of the century .... I always hear people asking that! rolling_smile.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Even though Dora is a cartoon, I find myself thinking that with her show. And other dumb questions/thoughts. blush.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I saw an episode the other day where Ruby was trying to bake a cake and she kept sending Max to the Grocer. He's 3 right? That show is just so weird.

TheOaf66 replied: yes this falls under the category of shows I don't really like, it is not very stimulating and yes it does give the message that anyone who is watching a child pawns them off...another episode Ruby is talking on the phone and keeps sending max outside or away from her so she can talk on the phone...not a good message

CantWait replied: It's funny how this topic keeps coming up lately... laugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
At least we have seen Dora's parents, or at least I have. I can handle her much better and Kaitlin learns from her. The only thing good about Max and Ruby is at least she is not whiny about caring for her brother.

TheOaf66 replied: ah yes, several shows like that you wonder where are the parents...?

Boo&BugsMom replied: I don't mind the show too much, however, the thing I like the least is the way that Max talks. If my daycare kids watch it, they are constantly trying to talk like Max, and at 4 years old, kids do not need to talk like a baby. I do not let them watch it anymore because they will repeat it over and over driving me insane. If Max is 3, he shouldn't be talking like that either. Drives me batty.

kimberley replied:
we had a whole post on this didn't we??? lol

ya definitely not a good show for the lessons it teaches rolleyes.gif
