TeagansMom609 wrote: Last Thursday at his first Pediatrician visit she said she heard a heart murmur. sleep.gif She said it was normal for babies to have them a few days after birth and then they go away but she wants him to see a cardiologist to have an ultrasound. Im so nervous and freaked out. sad.gif Wish us luck and pray its not there anymore by the time we get our appt.

ediep replied: oh no!!! You must be freaking!!

punkeemunkee'smom replied: hug.gif Lots of prayers that it will be gone! hug.gif From my understanding LOTS of factors can contribute to a Dr. 'hearing' a heart murmur. One of my little brothers had one that his pedi finally felt needed to be looked at...the cardioligist (and ultrasound) did not hear/detect any murmur. He told my parents that sometimes it can just be a trick of hearing on the Dr.'s part! Sorry to blahblah.gif I will be praying for your little one and you too! hug.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: A murmur can be many things, not always heart related. So I'll be praying for you and Matthew, but in the meantime, try not to worry. I have BTDT and you can survive anything.

MamaJAM replied: hug.gif Thoughts and prayers headed your way.

ammommy replied: hug.gif P&PT's your way hug.gif
I'm sure that it's going to be fine, but it's good that you are checking into it now.

mom21kid2dogs replied: hug.gif Here's hoping all is well with baby Matthew! hug.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: P&PT's for you & Matthew. Like some of the ladies said above it could be minor or may not be a murmur at all. But P&PT's for your family!! hug.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Thoughts and prayers for you and Matthew.

MyLuvBugs replied: It will be ok. I've had one my whole life. It's just a valve on the heart that sticks every once in awhile and give the heart a unique beat. He'll be ok, but I'm sure the dr. wants to make sure it's not a whole in the heart instead. That's why he wants to get an US. It will be ok. Medicine for the heart has changed dramatically in the last few years. I even heard on the TV they can close a newborns hole in their heart without invasive surgery now. But I'm sure he's fine. Keep us posted. hug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I would not worry until you know for sure even then some heart murmers are nothign, one of my nephews has a slight one she is 11 and perfecty fine. I also wonder if the doc was hearing things. My ped when Kait was little thought she heard a click in her hip, we had to have an ultra sound, thankfully nothing came of that and she was fine. Good luck and try not to worry to much. hug.gif

BAC'sMom replied: Thoughts and Prayers for you and Matthew! Not to worry my oldest had a heart murmer when he was first born, everything turned out just fine!

coasterqueen replied: hug.gif I would be scared too. I'm sure it's nothing, though. They are more common than we think.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: P&PT's to you guys! The ped in the hospital said Wil had a slight murmur too when he was first born, but by the time we were out of the hospital and seeing a regular ped, it was never heard again. It could be a number of minor things, but still sending you "healthy Matthew" vibes. hug.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: hug.gif I hope that it goes away on its own! I hope its nothing. hug.gif to you. I will be thinking of you guys. hug.gif

luvmykids replied: BTDT, I know it's scary. But Colt's has never stopped him from doing anything and hasn't caused any problems. The only time they even hear it now is when he's got a respiratory infection.
Prayers to you and Matthew!

fashionmumofboys replied: Lots of prayers and thoughts for you and Matthew. hug.gif

CantWait replied: I'm so sorry, but I'm sure things will be ok. I had a heart murmur when I was first born, and it eventually went away. I did have one again in my pre-teen years, but that to surpassed. Best of luck hug.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: hug.gif P&PT for you and little Matthew!

jacobsmama replied: hug.gif Prayers and hugs to you I know how scarey it is to have to see a specialist and worry in the mean time. wub.gif Prayers.. hug.gif

kimberley replied: p&pt yor way. stay atrong and try not to think the worst until you know what you are dealing with. hug.gif hug.gif

PrairieMom replied: Try not to freak out to much. i have had a murmur all my life too. i have slight mitral valve regurge. No biggie. I just have to have antibiotics before I get dental work done. No clue why.
Have the test done, then you can know what you are up against. hug.gif

Freckled Momma replied: Lotsa hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

Sending prayers your way smile.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
You have to take the antibiotics before dental work or surgery because dental work can possibly introduce mouth bacteria into the blood stream. In most people, that is no big deal, but in heart conditions a possible heart infection could occur. That is why they pretreat heart patients with antibiotics.

A&A'smommy replied: hug.gif hug.gif Let us know how it goes!!!

CosmetologyMommy replied: Good luck! My brother had a murmur when he was born and it went away, like your doc said.

holley79 replied: grouphug.gif I hope everything works out. Please let us know. Thoughts and prayers your way.
