Mary Beth Update - Test results

Her biopsy of the duodenum was totally clear -- so no celiac. Her ph probe showed mild reflux. The biopsy of the esophagus and stomach both showed inflammation that was consistent with chronic reflux. Both of those biopsies did not show any food allergies or h.pylori or anything out of the ordinary (beside the inflammation). Doctor was a bit concerned with the continued reflux, esp. since she was lactose free during the ph probe. But he wants to treat her with tums and or gaviscon over the counter stuff when she has pain and just report back to him in three months or if she gets worse. She has had only about 4 or 5 episodes of pain the past week, which is so much better than a few months ago. And this pain is not as intense and doesn't last long compared to how she has been in the past.

So I am really happy and hope she will continue to improve now that she is on a lactose reduced diet. She is finally begining to gain wgt. Also, finally we have information so we know we are doing the right things.

I can't immagine (for her or you) having to deal with Reflux for this long.
