Manicures &/Or Pedicures - How often?
coasterqueen wrote: How often do you get manicures and/or pedicures if you even do? How often SHOULD a person get them done? How much do you pay for each?
I ask for many reasons. I don't get to get manicures or pedicures often, but I really wish I could. Also I ask how often one SHOULD get it done because I got a manicure and pedicure while in CT on the 15th. By the next Friday the manicure (french manicure) looked like crap . I didn't do any hard labor type activities to cause them to look terrible. So I wonder are they supposed to last longer than a week? My pedicures seem to last longer, though.
And last I wanted to know how much you pay because I wonder. My mani and pedi were bought for me in CT - pedicure cost $40 and I'm not sure what the french manicure cost - I think $45 (both costs with $5 tip each).
gr33n3y3z replied: I dont know I never get those things done
Kaitlin'smom replied: when I get my nails done they noramlly last 2-3 weeks, they say (if you have tips) you should have them filled every 2 weeks, but I tend to strech mine out a bit longer. oh full set with french $35 fill ins $15
ped, I had one a few months back and it last me about 1 month and I actually liked it and woudl love to have it done more often but I think it would have cost $60, I dunno I had a gift cirt.
amynicole21 replied: I don't get manis, but I get a pedi every other week. They only cost me about $20.
moped replied: I don't get manicures, but I get pedicures about once every 2 months or so, I would go more often but get busy and don't make an appt. I won't say what I pay.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Its been awhile since I got either done. I think for a mani its $7 a hand for french and for a pedi is $17 < french ...
So $14 and $17 I would go about ... every 2 weeks ...
coasterqueen replied: Geesh, I need to call around then. If it's that cheap then I can afford to go more often. I'm used to getting it done at the spa salong where I get my hair done here - actually both spa salons charge at least $35 to get it done. I wonder if they are cheaper in these little places you see in malls/strip malls?
amynicole21 replied: Yep - I'm sure they are. Of course, they don't do a "spa" pedicure (usually just the addition of hot wax dips and some extra massaging) but you can pay an extra $5 - $7 to get that if you want. A "spa" pedicure will cost about $35 in those places.
coasterqueen replied: Ah, I see now. So I could just get regular manis/pedis most of the time and treat myself to spa ones every so often. Cool!
jcc64 replied: Just got a french pedi for $35, and that included one for Corey as well (really just painted her finger and toenails). That seems pretty standard around here (NY). I think the longest a french would last me is about a month. I don't do my fingernails bc I bite them to the quick.
MoonMama replied: I get a mani and pedi every 2 weeks and I spend $55 with tip for both.
maestra replied: My husband bought me a pedi for mother's day at the Red Door spa over here. It was nice- and the short one, which is what he got me, was 68 with the tip (40 minutes). I had it done June 4th, and my toenails still look good, but my feet get dry easily. She told me to come back and get the longer session, since my feet were so dry and calloused. (I had never had one before- I try to work on them myself, but it seems like a loosing battle!)
I'm glad you asked this question! I just worry about going to a cheaper place. I've heard a lot of news stories and such about people catching fungi and stuff from the cheaper places. Any advice on what to look for? (Not to steal your thread!!)
coasterqueen replied: One thing you can do with the dry skin and callouses is put foot lotion (I use Burt's Bees and Euricerin (sp?) is good too) and socks on before going to bed. When you wake up in the morning they will be soft. I just have a problem remembering to do it several times a week.
As far as sanitation - Look to make sure they are sterilizing everything, but as far as anything else I'm not sure either.
maestra replied: I'm going to try it tonight- we have some eucerin here on the counter! (It's great for the dds' eczema)
I felt so embarassed when I went to have it done, I wear birks a lot, so my feet are even more dry, and Az is already a dry place!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I have no idea. I last had a manicure before my wedding 5 years ago. LOL. Pedicures are another story, they are a treat and I try to go at least every other month.
Mommy2BAK replied: Well I have artifical nails, so I have to go back and get a fill every two weeks, that costs $17... but I think a pedi at my place is $25... I only treat myself to those on special occasions
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: In the summer, I get pedis at least once a month or I just do it myself. I go to the cheap places though. I found a great place just around the corner from me that I swear does a better job then any salon I've been to. I paid $32 for both a mani and pedi. I did this about two weeks ago and my toes still look great. No chips. But my fingers aren't as good. I just do clear on my fingers, so that chips off pretty fast.
MoonMama replied: I think I need to go where you go Rae.
grapfruit replied: Ah, those places see so many feet it probably doesn't even faze them.
