Maggie's Story/ Update - sorry its so long

due_any_day wrote: ok everyone! Hi and sorry its been a while since i announced the arrival of my baby girl (who is watching the computer screen with such amazing interest. i think she likes the emoticon-thingies. wub.gif)
first, maggies birth story.

last friday i had completely resolved myself to being induced (they changed the day on me from friday to sunday those buttheads mad.gif ). I did my regular friday routine, mall walked for an hour or two, got some pizza and went to the laundromat down the road because i needed clothes. ten PM i decided it was time to go to bed because felt oddly off and anxious for whatever reason and went to the bathroom to get changed. After using the toilet i noticed that there was some blood on the paper. I thought, oh hey, my mucus plug. then i really looked at it and realized that it was more blood than they told me it should be so, very calmly i went to my dads room. Now, the thing about me is, when i get scared, on the outside i'm calm until i try to do something like, oh say, knock on a door? In the process of doing so, i accidentally broke the knob a bit from pounding my fist on the door.

My dad woke up and asked me whats wrong. I told him to grab his shoes and get ready to go because I was bleeding. Said calmly like it was an every day thing. I went downstairs and called the hospital while my dad crashed around upstairs trying to find his shoes (which he still had on when he went to sleep tongue.gif ) We went to the hospital and within an hour I was checked in. THey figured, (and told me this exactly how i'm going to put it) "You were scheduled to be induced on sunday at 6:30 AM but since it looks like you're in labor, we'll hook you up to some pitocin (which SUCKS!!!!!) and get that little baby out, what do you say?" Worked for me. I called matthew. He was an hour away. I called my mom twenty five minutes after calling matt and matthew arrived first. wouldnt want it any other way.

(funny story. an hour before we called matt to get him to come to the hospital, my dad was toying with my cell phone and accidentally called matt which put him into a panic. we told him not to panic that i was at the hospital and was probably going to get send home anyway. SOmetimes I wonder about the stuff God does....)

Anyway, matt did not leave my side for a second. my mom left a few times to use the phone or bathroom or whatever. I got my epidural about 4 hours before maggie was born plus some stuff to take the edge off the pain twenty minutes beforethen which was really nice. COuldnt talk to save my life but...whatever. After being up for more than 24 hours i got some sleep. Before i went to sleep, they checked and said i was at 5 cm and completely effaced. Islept for about an hour and when I woke up at 11:59 with pressure, they checked me and it was time to push. 53 minutes later, Maggie was born. daddy and I cried so much we were so overjoyed. Until the doctor said, now why in the hell is she still bleeding that much? (Thats what i call a buzz-kill) They stitched up a tear that they saw, an hour later i was still bleeding and feeling very sick. They had been massaging my stomach and uterus for about 35 minutes but i was still bleeding. Maggie had been taken to wherever by this time so my attention was on the doctors. They did an ultrasound and saw my cervix had some nice lacerations on it, stitched that up and a couple more tears they noticed. My mom had told me that the best part of giving birth is the first second you see them and the first time you get to hold them. I agree. WHile the doctors were discussing transfusions and possible surgery to get me to stop bleeding and saying this is very unusual all i could think was dont let those seconds be my last.

They obviously weren't so thank god. again.

While in recovery i was in bed almost all weekend. Matt didnt leave for a second unless it was to take maggie down the hall to the nursery. I dont remember much about visitors, they gave me more pain meds to help me sleep. I do remember my sister saying "Wow you make Casper look like he has a tan! So when are you having another baby?" Apparently, infront of my mom and my religious family on her side I flipped her off before falling asleep.

Soon as I get pictures of maggie you'll get to see them I promise!!!!!

sorry so long and sorta sad but thats her story.

paradisemommy replied: wub.gif wow..what a story. i'm so sorry you had such a bad experience. so the bleeding was caused by the lacerations on your cervix? do they know what that was from? sounds pretty scary! but thankfully - you are doing well and are on the road to recovery!! can't wait to see the pics!! thanks for sharing your story! i LOVE birth stories!! wub.gif

mama3x replied: I am so glad that things with you are ok now! It's pretty scary when the doctors are talking about what's wrong and baby gets whisked away and all you can do is lie there and wait until who knows when to hold her.

Thank goodness they found the sources of bleeding and that you are well now. At least you flipped someone off and can blame the meds for it!

Take good care of yourself.
