Lost a very close friend today

coasterqueen wrote: We found out this morning that a close friend of ours, he was the best man in our wedding, died this morning. He had a lot of demons and was very sick, so we knew the day would come, but didn't think it would be today. Ryan's having a HARD time with this and I'm not doing much better. I'm trying to hold it together as we have the girls here plus my niece. I really don't have anyone that can take them tonight and I've already bit their heads off a few times. bawling.gif I took them to a movie just so I could have some peace and quiet to myself, but the night is going to be long. sad.gif

Now we have to pull it together to give the girls a good Christmas, but this is going to be hard. Ryan came home earlier to make sure he had a suit that still fits him, since he may be a pall bearer. If our friend is cremated, then he won't. We have no clue when the services will be. Our other friends are trying to figure out whether to cancel their travel plans for Christmas in case the funeral is this weekend.

Please give me the strength, if only to make it through this day. I wish kids understood the pain we feel bawling.gif It would make this a bit easier, especially when they are all tired, cranky and don't want to get along sad.gif.

Somehow we have to pull it together to give the girls a Merry Christmas. sad.gif Thanks for letting me vent. I need to go through my photo albums to get pics together for the funeral. sad.gif

amymom replied: Karen I am sorry for your loss. Being with family and friends will ease the pain a little. My dad passed away eight years ago today, so I understand the timing is lousy. Vent here anytime and the girls will have a fine Christmas, don't worry about them. Take care. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

The girls will have a great Christmas...it's a magical time of year for kids, so don't worry about ruining it for them.

mom21kid2dogs replied: That kind of scenario is awful no matter when but being right at the holiday really makes it stressful. hug.gif hug.gif I agree with Dana, though. I think the only way to ruin a child's Christmas is if there was no Christmas. They'll be fine.
So sorry for your loss. hug.gif

coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone. It has been a very rough past few days and will be some more coming with the services tonight and tomorrow. The girls still had a good Christmas. We tried to make it the best we could. Could have been a LOT better for them, but we did the best we could.
