booey2 wrote: our babysitters boy had them two weeks ago and is now back at school. Now his cousin (who is babysat at the same place) has them so I expect Matthew to catch them sometime before Christmas. Hopefull they will be all done with the spots in time to go to our family gatherings if not we may have to miss them this year. Oh well - less traveling for us. I will post of pic of Thomas if he gets and on his face, right now he only has one on his bellly and I think there are more coming in on his cheek and back. Oh well such is life, better to get them when you are little as they are supposed to not be so bad. I know that there is a vaccine for them but I felt that if it was a disease like polio or somthing that could kill you I would do it but I and DH lived them so can they. I will keep you updated.

amynicole21 replied: Ick! I hope if he gets them that they aren't too bad. Poor kid
Mommy2BAK replied: Oh no! I hope its not a bad case!
coasterqueen replied: Yikes! I hope he gets over them soon. I didn't want to vax Kylie..I felt getting the pox would be better than what I've heard of the results of the vax but it's state law that daycares and schools..if you attend them you have to be vaxed.
I'm suprised it's not like that in other states? I'm assuming it's not in your area.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Maddie's little friend at school has them, too. She has been out for a couple of weeks. I wasnt concerned about Maddie getting them, but I was of Ethan. He hasnt been vaccinated yet. Maddie has been. I hope your kids don't have a bad case and get over them quickly.
booey2 replied: Well up here in Canada they have made the vaccine available over the past few years and if you wanted to purchase it and have it administered at the doctors office you could. Now shortly after January 1 they are making it a part of the regular vaccinations that the kids get and it will be covered thru our health insurance. Who knows they could one day make it mandetory up here too.
edited to say: I know of quite a few children who have had the vaccination and still got chicken pox but a milder case of them.
loveydad replied: so you know, not to scare you, but there have been kids who died from Chicken Pox- -- so it can be fatal. It's unlikely, and not as likely to harm as polio, but it can...
Sorry your baby is sick.
redchief replied: Good luck and plenty of Aveno baths. I still have two who have not had them and another who was only exposed as an infant and got the shot, so he still may or may not get them.
A few years back the Asst. Fire Chief in our firehouse got them. We took pix and hung them all over the station. He wasn't happy.
booey2 replied: yes I had heard of this but usually there are other complications that went along with the chicken pox that also contributed to the deaths. Not to worry I do know the risks. Thanks for the concern.
A&A'smommy replied: UGH I hope he is better soon the chicken pox suck!
gr33n3y3z replied: Oh I remember those chicken pox I had them 3 times Once as a kid and twice as an adult Not much fun getting them as your older
booey2 replied: We ended up going to the doc's tonight because his left eye looked a little red. The doc confirmed that it is the pox and not to worry about his eye it is just do to the chicken pox. Now we are waiting for Matthew to get them - should be any day now. Another little boy the sitter watches broke out yesterday. Thanks for all the well wishes.
loveydad replied: I thought you did! I just thought I'd mention it for everyone's infromation.. (In other words, I'm a know it all! )
I hope he gets well soon!
