Lisa and I have saved 1,410.00 - in the last three months

grapfruit replied: Holy cow! Hold on let me go tell Tim!!!
how many packs a day did you guys smoke?? (He smokes about a pack a day)
redchief replied: Lisa and I both smoked just a little bit more than a pack a day. about 22 - 26 depending on the BS stress level (BS because we've been under just as much stress without the cigs and we've survived)
grapfruit replied: Well good for you guys! I'm very proud!!
redchief replied: Even better... I've shaved 20 points off my blood pressure and almost as many beats off my per minute heart rate since quitting. I was actually shocked at the difference a couple months of not smoking caused.
I go in for my annual fire service fitness physical tomorrow and I hope I shock all of the girls at the hospital.
PrairieMom replied: how did you do it?
redchief replied: Unfortunately the hard way. I filled my prescription for Chantix but Lisa got sick before my quit date so I quit the following day she went in the hospital (basically I felt really guilty because she couldn't smoke). I started the Chantix and I do think it helped a little bit, but by the time it kicked in for real I was past the physical withdrawal. I recall feeling less of a NEED for them while I was on it, so if any of you are contemplating quitting, I think I can recommend Chantix, even though I never really got full benefit of the drug.
grapfruit replied: Well good luck at the shocking part!
I bet even better, you feel GOOD!! Am I right?
PrairieMom replied: I was wondering if you used chantix or not. I haven't heard much about it, I was wondering how effective it was. Good for you for quitting! You will not regret it.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: WTG, you gonna use the savings for anything special?
Calimama replied: Congratulations!!!!!!!!! That is amazing!
redchief replied: We've been using the savings to pay bills. That's a good thing.
As to whether I'm feeling better I'd have to answer with a measured, "yes."
Oddly enough my acid reflux seems worse since I quit, which I found a bit surprising. My fuse is definitely shorter than before, but I'm coping with that all right. I definitely don't get winded as easily as I did before, and I don't look forward to the end of my evening walks as I used to... I want to keep going. I'm working on losing the weight I put on quitting... about 15 pounds, but I think that's an acceptable trade off for my improved health.
CantWait replied: OH WOW YOU GUYS THAT'S GREAT!!!!!!!!! I'M SO PROUD OF THE BOTH OF YOU. KEEP IT UP.
mom21kid2dogs replied: That is AWESOME!!!!! Congrats!!!
A&A'smommy replied: WOW thats amazing... I'm hoping when i finally get the "courage" or the "want" to quit that I'm going to put back however much money I spend on "smokes" away into savings for a year and see how much money I spent on them....
ANYWAY thats WONDERFUL I'm happy for you two!!!!
