Light bill - Whats yours

lisar wrote: Okay so after reading the temp poll I was wondering what everyones light bill runs them a month.

In the summer mine is average of $140.00 a month
In the winter mine is $220.00 a month

TheOaf66 replied: we are on a budget plan so we pay $224 per month

youngmomofone replied: it was 59 for three months then it went up to 80 this month. Im sure next month will be higher since it has been cold here and I turned on the heater a few times.

DVFlyer replied: Ours is usually around $100. With the x-mas lights, the last bill was $200.

Mommy2Isabella replied: Ours is right at $100 each month. Give or take $20 bucks!

PrairieMom replied: 101.21
We work real hard to conserve energy, we have all CFLs, rarely use lights in the day time, we have a duel fuel furnace that runs on gas or electricity, it decides by its self which one to use, right now we have our thermostat set at 68, but with the sun coming through the windows it keeps the house at 70 without even running.

lisar replied: How is it that everyones light bill is cheaper than mine? JEA (out electric company) is supposed to be one of the lowest in the country. I am starting to question that now.

Our Lil' Family replied: I just paid our first bill in the new house and it was $75, I thought that was high because the gas bill was $80, our heater and hot water tank are gas. So I really was expecting like a $50 or $40 elec. bill. dry.gif

Our old house was like $60 in the winter and at most $120 in the middle of summer.

Jason's Papa replied: No idea. My wife handles the bills. tongue.gif

A&A'smommy replied: ours is right around 400 dollars and thats running the a/c around 74 constantly and running the heaters dry.gif we can't seem to get under that

cameragirl21 replied: mine is around 60 dollars in the winter and 75-80 in the winter. I don't turn the AC down too low and am very good about turning out the lights when I'm not using them.

PrairieMom replied:
you keep your house at 80. wink.gif

Calimama replied: We don't have one.. yet. We'll see if that changes with Obama.

lisar replied:
Well in the winter I can understand it but not in the summer.

cameragirl21 replied:
geez, what did you have, Nat'l Lampoons Christmas Vacation type lights on your house?
100 bucks a month for Christmas lights...and I thought they were supposed to be low energy. huh.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Lisa, your house may just not be very energy efficient so it takes more energy to heat and cool it.
I'm not saying that's the case, just saying that could be why.

maestra replied:
Ours is the exact opposite, but I guess that's one of the problems with living in Az.

In the summer, the highest is usually 260, and in the winter, we hit the lowest, which is usually between 80-100 dollars. Depends on how much I am home- when I'm home, it tends to be higher because I keep on top of the laundry and tend to do a lot of organizing/cleaning projects, which tends to lead to more laundry. Plus, when I'm not home, MIL does the dishes while watching the kids, by hand. I refuse to, so I run the dishwasher. tongue.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: Winter, right around $100. Summer, usually $120, sometimes as high as $140 when DH cranks the air conditioning up.

luvmykids replied: I haven't gotten the bill here yet, but I'm not going to worry about the first one since we had DH's grandmothers RV hooked up to our house for almost two weeks dry.gif

In our old house, it was close to $400 in the winter months, only about $70 in the summer....it only had A/C upstairs, which we never used anyway.

redchief replied: Oh man, I'm afraid to look. Usually we run somewhere in the neighborhood of $125. We've been running heavy duty construction lighting here over the last month so I'm sure it's going to be harsh.

DVFlyer replied:
Didn't you see the picture I posted. smile.gif

<----- Griswalds.

Actually, I asked Michelle about it and she said it was because of the lights AND the heater... Guess she ran the heater more than she let on... wink.gif

DillsMommy replied: Ours was 330 last month. That's pretty normal for us in the winter.
My in laws usually pay between 600-800 a month. ohmy.gif I couldn't imagine.

stella6979 replied: Our electric bill is usually between 70-90/month, but it's the gas bill that I dread. During the winter that usually runs us between 250-300/month. dry.gif

austins mom replied: Mine runs me about $220.00 a month. But that also has water built into it.
