mckayleesmom wrote: Ok..today I was looking for something in the closet and came accross this funky looking bug...It was brown and looked almost exactly like an Aunt...but it was about the size of a cockroach....it looked like an ant that ate the rest of the colony....what the heck is it....Hannahsmom???
redchief replied: You wouldn't happen to have a pic of it would you?
amynicole21 replied: Termite? Try looking up a pic of one online and see if it matches.
mckayleesmom replied: Ok,,,hold on...it was big though..I thought termites were small.
mckayleesmom replied: No its not a termite...Ever seen that movie...Honey I shrunk the Kids? It looks like that ant...just similar to a regular ant,,,, but its the size of a stinking cockroach...LOL...I have been looking up bugs and can't find it.
My2Beauties replied: I have no clue, could it be a baby waterbug? Those are notorious in Kentucky!
mckayleesmom replied: No...it looked exactly like an aunt...only 50 times bigger...
redchief replied: Could it have been a carpenter ant?
My2Beauties replied:
Never seen one of them before!
mckayleesmom replied: OOOOOH....that looks like it....Are they the size of a small cochroach???....cause I am not exagerating...it was huge.
redchief replied: Carpenter ants are quite large... cockroach size? I'd say they run about small roach size. You also don't want them in your house; they eat wood.
mckayleesmom replied: Yikes...so far I have only seen 1
amynicole21 replied: They often send "scouts" into houses to see if there is anything to eat. As long as you don't see a ton of them, you are ok. We got them pretty bad last year (they come out after rain a lot - we got them after the hurricanes) and had to get an exterminator to come to treat the house. I think if you just saw one you should be ok.
mckayleesmom replied: Well..I murdered there GO TO GUY......Hope they don't come looking for him.
gr33n3y3z replied: lol
redchief replied: I got one (winged yet) this morning. Caught him sleeping. It's swarming time.... yippeeee.
