Left over ham - Question
lisar wrote: I have some left over ham that I wanted to make for dinner tonight. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do with it. I dont just want ham and mac and cheese. I want something good.
MommyToAshley replied: Put it in a pot of soup beans... yum!!!
coasterqueen replied: YUM! It's been so long since we've made that. I'm so hungry for that and CORN BREAD!!!! Ok Dee Dee, you have me starving.
Is it sliced ham or a chunk of ham?
If it's sliced ham you could make ham horseshoes
MommyToAshley replied: I make this recipe too... yummy http://southernfood.about.com/od/hamcasser.../r/bl00423b.htm
luvmykids replied: Mmmmm that sounds SO good
MommyToAshley replied: What are ham horseshoes?
coasterqueen replied: They are fattening.
You put down toast (or bread, if you don't want it toasted), then a layer of whatever meat you want, then french fries on top of that, then yummy yummy cheese sauce on top of that - then eat! They seem to be only known in our city for some reason. If you go down to southern IL or northern IL no one knows what we are talking about - just central IL.
lisar replied: This sounds good. And its a whole ham that we cooked while camping. We had 2 hams and this one has alot left on it. So I was gona make something with it instead of feeding it to the dogs. They can have the bone.
We dont do ham and beans.
And what is a ham horse shoe??? Now I am curious
lisar replied: That sounds good to. But dh is on this kick of watching what he eats so no Frys are allowed. LOL.
coasterqueen replied: Baked fries are healthier than fried fries. Just a thought if you wanted to give it a try.
lisar replied: Try telling him that. LOL
moped replied: Denver sandwiches!!!!!!!!
mckayleesmom replied: I just stuck my leftover ham in my cheesy broccoli soup and it was delicious... I don' know why I didn't think of it before. I usually do the 15 bean soup with ham.
Easy recipe too
2 can cream of chicken soup 1 bag of shredded cheese milk frozen or fresh broccoli
Throw it all in a crock pot...put enough milk to whatever consistancy you would like and walla...Add the ham about 2 hours before serving time so it isn't dried out.
