Kylie's 1st day at school yesterday
coasterqueen wrote: I was a nervous wreck the night before (Wednesday night). Anyways, Kylie had her first real day of pre-K yesterday. She had to get on the bus and everything. Of course mommy met the bus at school (too) and watched her get off the bus and go into the school. She didn't see me at the school and doesn't know I did that, but I just had to. Then Dh and I drove to the sitter's at 11 yesterday to watch her get off of the school bus.
For us this is a HUGE deal, Kindergarten won't be. Mainly because she's at pre-K at the same school she'll be for K and the bus won't be a new thing next year.
This is all so freaky to me. To be getting her on the bus every morning, for her to be going to school where Dh and I did. It's just strange. Not only that, but she started soccer this week. The girl is in soccer, swimming, and art classes at the Y. Then Megan is in two classes at the Y so Tuesday, Friday and Saturday are chaos for us.
I just can't believe how much Kylie is growing up. I'm a bit worried she'll be bored in pre-k, but because of her birthday she didn't make the K cut-off. I expressed my concern to the teacher about how Kylie is reading and that they won't do that in pre-K.
Oh and I got in trouble yesterday by the teacher. I got a note sent home to me. It was because I put a folder in Kylie's bag so she could keep her paperwork all nice and neat in there (the anal side of me ). I was told the folder was not on the list of supplies and not to send it to school anymore. Well PHOOEY on the teacher! What a meanie. So now her papers are going to be all messy by the time she brings them home.
Here are a few pics from yesterday:
coasterqueen replied: I loved this picture, don't know what.
coasterqueen replied: Here comes the bus
coasterqueen replied: My baby is on the big bus
MommyToAshley replied: Aweee, she looks so grown up... AND BEAUTIFUL!!! She looks so excited to be starting school.
How did she like her first day? Sounds like you did great. I can totally see you sneaking to school to watch her get on and off the bus. You did better than I did... I couldn't bring myself to put Ashley on the school bus. I drive her and pick her up. But, next year I will let her ride the bus.
coasterqueen replied: She did great her first day. She was ready to go back today. I thought about following the bus today and seeing her get off at school, but Dh convinced me I have to let go. Kylie spent all last night and this morning trying to convince me that I need to let her grow up and go stand out for the bus all by herself. I said NO WAY! I'm not letting her stand out there alone. She asked if she could stand out there alone at 16 - I told her no.
moped replied: WOW that big yellow bus picture freaks me out! LOL
SHe will love school and she does look so grown up!
mom21kid2dogs replied: She looks so pretty! Her dress is beautiful! Did it come home looking that pristine?
Glad to hear she loved school~makes life so much better, doesn't it? The bus conversation sounds like the "I can walk to school by myself, mom" one we had. One day and they own they world, eh?
lisar replied: So cute. And getting on the bus. So grown up.
DansMom replied: Kylie is SO ready for Kindy, from what you've said---but I bet she'll have fun in pre-K and learn a few more things. I love the photo!
coasterqueen replied: Thanks ladies.
She did NOT come home in a pristine dress. It wasn't too dirty, BUT her new white white socks and white tennies came home so dirty I was kinda grumpy about it. Guess I better get used to it.
amynicole21 replied: Awww! What a big girl
boyohboyohboy replied: karen, what great pics! and what pretty little girls! now that you have survivied it, can you come here and get me thru it? we have agreed to let caleb ride the big bus too, its just easier for him and they have an entire system set up to get him started , with teachers riding the bus the first week to help kids feel better about getting on and off, and then special teachers meeting them at school and taking them to their rooms..so we thought it best to let him have this experience, but its so hard..
i know just how you feel.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Yeah, you will! Shoes are the first to get trashed at our house~and with alarming speed, too!
luvmykids replied: Look at that, getting on the bus! The one of them by the fireplace is so sweet
coasterqueen replied: You know I've never been too scared about Kylie riding the school bus. She's very mature and independent and I thought she'd do well. I secretly wished she would be a little scared or something just so I felt like I was needed, but that wasn't the case. She's only on the bus about 20 to 25 minutes and the bus driver is very very nice. Dh and I grew up riding the bus so we know how they work, how they can easily handle a bus full of kids -- you would be amazed at how they can handle all those kids. They are gods and goddesses in my book. I also live in a very good small school district so they do a good job of keeping up with their drivers training, etc, etc.
Just have confidence in him and you will both do fine.
Now with Megan possibly going to pre-K next year Dh and I aren't confident about her riding the bus. She's just mature enough to ride it -- but she'll be three. I'm not confident that I would have sent Kylie on the bus at age 3 either.
GL and let me know how it goes.
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: omg - what great pics. Your girls are beautiful. I love how little sis looks just as excited as big sis in the pics ! Too cute
Calimama replied: They are both so pretty!
