Kind of excited! Getting carpet tomorrow
coasterqueen wrote: Kinda excited, we are FINALLY getting the carpet layed (or is it laid??) in our basement den tomorrow!!! Course we were supposed to have it layed a week ago so we had time to move all the furniture in before we leave for vacation this week, but oh well. The factory had trouble getting the yarn to die correctly, got me, lol.
So when we get back from vacation next week we'll be able to move things in, I hope. Hehehe. DH is supposed to go out of town for work next week too, so who knows.
The basement is really coming along. I haven't had time to update our website, but I'm still working on doors/trim, , (half way there, lol) and Dh spent the weekend finishing the painting and was hanging doors and trim that I already had finished. Now he's going to work on hanging the ceiling tile up until we leave for vacation.
We got the bid today for the tile work on the bathroom floor, bar floor area and to tile the countertops of the bar. Too much money for me to give the go ahead, but Dh called today and told them to order it.
I'm just getting so excited because even though we've spent every waking moment that Kylie is asleep working on it it's finally coming together. My estimate is we'll be done by late August!
Sorry to bore you all, lol, I'm just so excited that everything is coming along and that we are still sane (so far). I'll post final pics when it's all done. So I'll have a basement tv room, bar room, den, bathroom and lots of storage closets when we're done. But no furniture to put in the rooms except our den furniture, lol. Oh well, it's worth it for the storage and over the next few years hopefully we'll have it all done. I've decided to decorate the entire basement in St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Memorabilia. Dh LOVES Cardinals (so do I) and since the basement is his "play room" I think he'll like it.
MommyToAshley replied: That sounds so neat.... I can't wait to see the final pictures!!!
What color carpet did you get?
coasterqueen replied: Thanks.
It's a very light taupe color with flecks of dark taupes in it. They call it a *shag* even though it doesn't look like the shags way back when, lol. It's the new and latest thing our designer told us. I only know it won't show dirt as easily. ROFL.
ediep replied: thats great!!! I'm sure I told you, but we have just finished our basement too. Now that the carpet is in and our couch was delivered we are just about done. We also have a den, play room, bathroom, laundry, bar, counters, and gym down there. Its wonderful extra space.
Kaitlin'smom replied: woo hoo thats great! I cant waite to get a bigger place....we have so outgrown our current home.
ctymom replied: Beware.... new carpet SMELLS! We had the whole house done in a matter of a week. And it was awful. Thankfully we did this before Erica was born... but didnt help my morning sickness much.

Zoe'sMommaCamie replied: huge brownies points to yoU!! dh and i moved in together when i was 21, when we wanted to start a family. did start trying until i was 24, and i got pregnant at 27. but since we moved in the house STILL isnt done!
MommyToAshley replied: Oh...that sounds pretty! Anxiously awaiting pictures.
coasterqueen replied: Oh I bet you love the space. I can't wait to have all that storage down there. In all honesty the basement won't get used that much as far as entertaining, which is what it's designed for, because we don't do any entertaining, lol. Ryan said the basement will get used when Kylie is a teenager and discovers there's a bar down there.
But the storage areas will definitely get used! Right now my storage closets upstairs are packed to the gill with stuff and if I want one little thing out of them I have to take everything out to get to it.
Right now the bedroom that will be for baby #2 is Kylie's playroom, but now that there is going to be a den downstairs, the upstairs den will become the playroom. So one whole *wing* of the house will be the kid's wing as we call it, lol. It has two kids bedrooms, their bathroom and their playroom.
coasterqueen replied: LOL. Yeah, I remember the new carpet smell when we built our house. Right now I'm dealing with smells of drywall mud, paint, varnish, stain, and sand sealer. It's great. That's why we are trying to get the majority of this done before I get pg because I can't stand the smells now let alone when pg. Lol.
coasterqueen replied: LOL! We built our house 5 years ago. DH wouldn't start a family til we built our house. We were living in a two bedroom shack before that. And when I say shack I'm not joking! ROFL. We had oil burning heat, when it rained water poured through the electrical outlets, we had every varmit/bug known to man in there, the bathroom floor was sinking, the carpet in the house was all rotted out, it was a SHACK in every since of the word. But it did the trick while we were building our house.
I NEVER thought Dh would finish the basement. He said we'd take a year off once we built our house since we did it mostly all ourselves and then we'd start on the basement. yeah right! LOL. But since we are running out of storage space upstairs with all of Kylie's baby clothes, furniture etc, he finally realized it was time, lol.
coasterqueen replied: It's funny because we built our house big enough to grow into it. When it was just Ryan and I we both felt like our house was WAY to big for us. Now that we have Kylie we are wondering how we are going to handle having another child someday in it. I think it's gonna get a bit too crowded, lol. I'm already talking about adding on and DH is saying NO WAY.
Zoe'sMommaCamie replied: funny how that is. The house we live in (the house my mom and uncle grew up in. i lived there from ages 2-14) always seemed SO big!! Now that Keith and Zoe and I live in there with all of our stuff, it seems sooo cramped
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Karen that is sooooo exciting!! I know how you feel. Our house is a continuous work in progress and every time we complete one little project I want to do cartwheels!!
Zoe'sMommaCamie replied: ditto!
kimberley replied: sounds great! gotta love a carpet that doesn't show dirt are you putting new pics up on your site? i will keep checking
ctymom replied: oh wow.. ok well, you have it a tad worse with the combo of all those smells. bleh Hope all is going well.
