Killer caught - MIL's nephew

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: Here's an update...They have found the killer. I am so afraid he will plead insanity and not get what he deserves. I just have this awful feeling in my gut. My MIL said the kid was someone Dave grew up with and that he always had a "strange" way about him. Dave was the type to take him under his wing and befriended him when no one else did. And now look what this psycho did to him. Thanks for all your thoughtful prayers. My MIL is still there with Dave's grandmother. She is not doing well. They are having a memorial service this Saturday, but with no body because the police won't release him to the family. So sad.

David Boss - In loving memory

You guys, I need help...What do you send in times like this? I was just about to order some flowers, but it feels strange. Flowers are "happy" gifts IMO. One to show thanks or congratulate someone, not to give someone who has just lost their son, especially so tragically. But I want to do something. Any advice is appreciated. sleep.gif

Calimama replied: I'm glad he was caught. I think flowers are appropriate, obviously not balloons and teddy bears, but a simple bouquet would be nice. Maybe you could make a couple freezable meals. Little things like that go a long way. I'm sorry again. hug.gif hug.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: Rae, I know how you feel. We had a murder in our family also and it's so sad. It makes you scared and worried about what we brought children into. But I know we had justice for our family and yours will too.

I think a nice bouqet or plant is very nice to send. And maybe a donation to a memorial in her sons name is a nice thing also.

MommyToAshley replied:
I was going to say the same thing. You could send a card and a donation in his name to a charity he would have liked.

redplaydoh replied: That is so sad. He's so young...

As for something to send. I sent these Life Lights candles to my boss when her mother died and she loved them. www.lifelights.com

Other unique gifts that I've seen are:

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Thanks for all of these wonderful ideas.

luvmykids replied: I'm so glad they caught him...any word of why? Continued thoughts and prayers for everyone affected hug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: hug.gif hug.gif I'm SOO sorry to hear about this!!!

MoonMama replied: hug.gif hug.gif Lots of continued thoughts and prayers Rae. sleep.gif

Brias3 replied: Oh my goodness, how sad. Many prayers to your family at this time.

I think it would still be appropriate to send flowers- a small, subtle bouquet would be a nice gesture.

StephanieM replied: I am so sorry this has happened. I agree with the frozen meals. If you are close enough and can offer this service to them, I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated. So sorry again. hug.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Maybe some kind of food delivery service, housecleaning service, or some kind of service that would allow them to crawl in bd and cry rather than do the chore.

A nice hardy plant that can live on for years would be great too. I still have a plant from when my grandfather died. I just put a pic in it with a small picture of my grandfather - it's a nice, sweet reminder. wub.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: I recall you saying you were pretty far away from them and couldn't get there. So I was thinking, there is going to be a lot of family coming in from different places possibly? Perhaps you can offer to help with finding arrangements for everyone or that sort of thing. Things that his mom wont have time or forethought to deal with right now?

Also there are places where you can buy packaged meals that just have to be heated, I think they are called Super Suppers or Supper Thyme, and all someone would have to do is pick them up. Since you are so far away and cant make one your self.

DansMom replied: hug.gif I think the donation to charity is a great idea. This is so very sad.

lisar replied: I am glad they caught the person who done this. I think flowers would be appropriate. I hated everyone bringing food when my Mom died cause I had to clean everything up and I just wasnt in the mood for that.

My2Beauties replied: I'm so sorry to hear of this Rae...my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. One really nice thing also are those plaques that have different prayers or poems on them. They are beautiful and very meaningful.
