Kids decorating the Xmas tree??

jacobsmama wrote: I was just wondering what you all do...lol

I let Jacob decorate the tree....meaning I was letting him put the bulbs on. Well as well all know they all tend to go on same branch! lol or in the same area emlaugh.gif

So my question is do you let your kids hang the bulbs and then you just re-arrange them later?

I felt terrible when I was moving them around the next day and he is so darn smart he was like "Mom who moved my bulbs?" "I thought I decorated the tree?"

Just wondering if I am the only mean mother who is a control freak over her tree!! LOL wacko.gif

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: oooooooooh, I totally rearrange after they go to bed smile.gif

CantWait replied: I just tell Anthony to maybe pick a spot over here to hang the ornament so that it's not so close together and there's some all over.

You're not the only one.

Kaitlin'smom replied: she helps, but we make sure the main tree is spread out.

I have 2 little ones she gets to decorate how ever she wants.

MommyToAshley replied: When Ashley was smaller, she'd put the ornaments all on one branch. I'd just direct her to another part of the tree. But, she also had her own small table top tree in her room that she decorates every year. We just leave it like it is after she's done decorating it.

Now, she does a great job of decorating the tree and spreading the ornaments out. Even her little tree in her room has ornaments all the way around it.

cameragirl21 replied: Just wanted to say to be careful with those lights, rumor has it they contain lead. And the only reason I know that is because this time of year it's very common for parents to request Christmas pictures of their baby wrapped up in lights...I will not wrap any child in lights until I see proof that those lights don't contain lead. Most photogs suggest to wipe down the baby after so chances are there is some truth to this rumor.

lisar replied: I let them do it and then I leave them that way. It makes for a cute tree. Also Raygen has redecorated that tree everyday since we put it up. Literally. I have 3 things at the top that I wont let her touch though.

Jamison'smama replied: I do the lights and the garland. The kids do the lower ornaments and I hang the higher ones. They do a pretty good job and I leave them.

stella6979 replied:
Same here. I just let her have at and then leave it. I think it adds a little character. LOL! And she also has re-decorated the tree everyday since it's been up. biggrin.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Uh, no?

My kids don't touch the tree, nor any of the decorations.

They have stuff to decorate their own rooms with.

luvmykids replied:
It used to be hard for me to not rearrange, but they're so proud of what they've done that I let them have the bottom and I do the top.

MoonMama replied: I haven't gotten this far in thought yet since Brae is only 2. laugh.gif I asked him if he wanted to help yesterday when I put up the tree though and he looked at me like I had a screw loose and told me "um NO!". rolleyes.gif Now our issue with him is UN-decorating the tree. dry.gif rolleyes.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I try and guide them to spread the ornaments out, but I don't move anything they've put on. We have a very eclectic variety of ornaments anyway so it gives it character. The only restriction I give them is I have some ornaments that used to belong to my great grandmother and they are not allowed to touch those because they are extremely fragile.

AlexsPajamaMama replied:
Same here.
Its part of having kids! Its no fun to keep saying over and over dont put that there, spread them out. There's nothing breakable on our tree. The special ornaments I dont want him playing with I put up higher.

jacobsmama replied: Good to know that I am not the only one who re-arranges LOL

Jacob does put them on the bottom and no matter how much I say put some here, spread them out....He keeps putting them in same spot LOL

I think as he gets older he will be the one decorating it... wink.gif
