Katie - Needs Prayers
gr33n3y3z wrote: Katie has been having problems with her stomach for awhile now We and the Dr's first thought she had a dairy problem so she would take Lactaid pills out of the house and Lactaid Milk in the house.
Nov. 21 she became very sick with stomach pains and feeling like she has to throw up all the time I thought it was a stomach bug and would pass Monday after the Holiday she went to the Dr. and they treated her Irritable Bowl Syndrome and the Dr said she should start to feel better with in 3 to 4 days. Needless to say the med. didnt work and she is still feeling sick all the time and has the pains. Were heading up to Childrens Hospital in Philadelphia on Tuesday to see a Pediatric G.I. Specialist.
Please Keep Katie in your prayers
Thank you
mom2tripp replied: Please keep us updated--hope they find out and I hope she feels better soon!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Poor Katie, that's no fun. I hope you get some answers!
Jamison'smama replied: Sending prayers for Katie! I have a history of stomach issues. Several years ago I was diagnosed with/treated for H Pylori --the bacteria that causes ulcers. Similar symptoms to Katie----pain, nausea, occured mostly at night for me. Hope they find the cause soon, stomach problems are MISERABLE!
ediep replied: sending P&PT your way!!!
mom21kid2dogs replied: I was going to ask if they have ruled out ulcers. I had one at 14. UGH! Many prayers coming her way. Hope they figure it out soon.
amymom replied: Prayers to Katie! Pediatric GI is the way to go! Good Luck
redchief replied: I'm Kaitlin's daddy for the few of you who don't know...
Nothing has been ruled out except lactose intolerance and IBS. Family doc suggested that the ped. GI doc would probably order a full set of blood work and a full GI scan. All of that is uncomfortable, but we're not going to quit until we find out what's going on with the poor kid. She's totally unable to enjoy food right now and spends hours after eating in pain.
Thanks for all the well-wishes. I'm sure Lisa or I will keep everyone updated.
MommyToAshley replied: Poor Katie... it sounds aweful.
I am glad you were able to get an appointment with the GI doc... I hope you get some answers and she is back to herself in no time.
Please keep us posted. I'll be saying a prayer for Katie tonight.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I re-read Lisa's original post and her symptoms sound a lot like my problems. I have GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease) and probably an ulcer. The doctor never actually checked for ulcers but said it sounded like I had one. The medicine they gave me for the gerd was supposed to cover help with both. It actually did help but I've been off it since I got pg with Andrew and it's coming back.
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Thoughts and Prayers coming your way!!
redchief replied: We're thinking her problems are lower in the GI tract, but that's all guesswork. Her pain is in here lower belly and is accompanied by nausea, but she doesn't vomit. Her stools are relatively normal. Her main problems are the chronic lower GI pain and the persistent nausea.
A&A'smommy replied: LOTS of prayers and postive thoughts your way!!!
Emeraldsmom replied: I am so sorry. Katie will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you get some answers.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Before I started taking meds for it I always had pain in my lower stomach area and was always nauseous. Also around the same time every day the pain in my stomach would get so bad that I would literally double over - I couldn't sit up or stand up straight... the only thing that helped was if I curled up into a little ball and tried to sleep. Usually when I woke up it was better.
Whatever her problem is I hope she can get it fixed soon I know how painful it is!!
jcc64 replied: I'm so sorry Katie isn't feeling well. It's so scary to see your child so uncomfortable and not have a definitive diagnosis and/or treatment. I'm sure you are well aware that CHOP is one the very best children's hospitals in the country- you'd be hard pressed to find better care for her. Surely someone will get to the bottom of it there. In the meantime, strength and hugs to all of you while you deal with the unpleasantries of testing.
gr33n3y3z replied: Yes we know they are the best hospital Were just so lucky to have one close enough to us
Thank you for all your prayers and positive thoughts
kimberley replied: many prayers to you and Katie. i hope they have some answers for you soon.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh Lisa! I had no idea! I will pray for Katie. I hope they can find out the cause of all of this. My brother and one of my friends had this very thing in Jr High. It is awful. I think the doctors just said it was a nervous stomach thing (ulcers maybe?) I can't remember...I hope there is a treatment they can do.
