Kaitlin is in the ER...

jcc64 replied: I will certainly keep them in my thoughts. I also "cracked my head open" when I was 3 yo, aka a fractured skull. I was hospitalized for a few days, but made a complete recovery. Head wounds are very very scary, and they tend to be quite bloody and gory, but they often look much worse than they are. All the same, it's a traumatic experience for all involved, probably none more so than the parents.

okay I will try and be short. I got a call from DH telling me to get to Goddard (Kaitlins school) she fell and cut her head open. SO i ran out of work and into a borrowed car (thats another story) and got my cell and found I had missed the call (Iforgot to turn the ringer back on after I went to a viewing last night) I listend to the message that kaitlin had triped and hit her head on a brick wall. SO I called and said I am 10 minutes out and Angela ( the owner told me they already called the medic) I said if they can wait till I get there, well they had not arrived yet but she would let me know if they were going to leave before I got there and where they should take her. I am flying to get there, I make it there just as they are wheeling her out to the medic, she sees me and cries, she was straped down and looked awful. I rode with her and DH met us at the hospital. We got there and they were looking her over but had to wash her hair so they could find the cut, well when the nurse was looking she was like is that it? you guys its the smallest cut if you close the pen its maybe that big, so over all NO stitches, no cuncusion, her knee (which they xrayed cause it was scraped up) is fine. She is fine, they could hardly believe that such a small cut (which was already scabing over) bled so much.

All the staff, teachers and her class mates were very heppy to see she was fine and being herself. As were all the family and frineds worried about her.

Thanks everyone again, it was scary to get a call like that, I am so glad she was well taken care of not only at the hospital but the school as well. It was actually kinda lucky one of the stuends parents happend to be there and was a medic so he took over until the other crew showed up, and the funny thing is they reconised some of the names on the contact sheet cause they either work with them (my sister) or have worked with them (my dad) and she was proud to tell them.

Wheee sorry that got long.....I think thats it.

lovemy2 replied: So glad she is OK - no matter how big or little that is always VERY scary - we had the same thing in October with Olivia she cut her head open and ended up with three staples - it was very traumatic - but she survived and so did we....

It's weird that such a small cut could cause so much blood. But, it's still good that the daycare acted cautiously and called the paramedic. It's always better to be safe. I can only imagine how scared you were to get that call. How's she doing today?

Kaitlin'smom replied: thanks everyone, she is fine. She is with the nanny today as she wanted to just take it easy. She did go to her recital last night, there was no way she wanted to miss that. It was so cute.

I woudl have to say the call was the scariest part of it, but once I was with her I was fine and just went into calm mommy mode. Once I saw how tiny it was I felt a huge rush of relief over me.
