Johnny is out of Surgery

MyBlueEyedBabies wrote: His surgery went well took a little over an hour and no problems at all. When I got to recovery to see him he was a very un happy little dude and now we are back in his room. They just turned off the oxygen and he has been on morphine for about an hour and a half so he's doing pretty good...just sleeping. Apparently they are going to keep him pretty drugged for the next day and tomorrow will be the true test on how he's doing because he will actually get to try and eat.
We appreciate all the P&PT's

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Lisa, morphine is a fantastic drug for pain control. Fairly short lived and works well without blocking receptors so it can be used again. Just watch for bowel movements, morphine slows the bowels. Logan was on morphine after both surgeries. And I learned the hard way, make sure he has regular BMs before they send you home. After Logan's first surgery, they didn't pay any attention to me saying "He hasn't gone for 4 days" and when he finally did go when we got home, it was miserable. I made them give him a suppository to get things started before we left after surgery #2.
I am so glad he made it through so well. I hope he eats and is feeling better in no time. Get well soon, Johnnie.

And Kelly thanks you. I already told the nurse if he doesn't go tomorrow I want them to get teh suppository for him.
